Having owned my E-Trac since Sept. 2010, I am finally becoming comfortable with the machine and seem to be starting to use and understand the functions to the point I am pulling coins with some of the crappiest readings (audio, and Target I.D.) you can imagine, but my ear seems to be tuning to sounds that catch my attention and by using the Quick Mask feature (to get the best target seperation) and a lot of patents I am picking out some really nice coins (27 silver coins since the first of April including a 1904 Barber Half) out of some really horribly trashy sights.

If this new machine is better then my E-Trac, It will have to be proven to me. Have you considered getting a Tesoro Silver u Max?

New they are about $90.00 more than a Compadre, but the two I have were bought used @$175.00.

I have had my first used one for about 5 years now and nothing ever seems to ever go wrong with them.

Liked it so much I got another used one at the same price for my wife a year later.

Even though now I have a V, plus a Tiger Shark and a ML XT 705 (AT Pro also but lets not talk about that) I still use my Silver's for many special uses and for letting others borrow when needed.

I find them great on fresh water beaches finding small shallow gold and silver jewelry.

All around the best inexpensive MD out there IMHO.

Yep no wifi was included in the detector. It is a shame. There should be some way of wirelessly transferring data between every device and a PC or smartphone. Doing so will open up all kinds of future applications. Imagine auto mapping to a map repository on your PC or the web, and it keeping up with mineralization, iron signals, or nulling over the entire site. Later you can review your hunt without even having to connect usb. High variability on the E-TRAC resulted in maximum variation of pitch from one target to the next. This was nice for identifying closely adjacent targets.
