Thinking of getting this unit. Has anyone on the forum use this detector? Now using the Wader and doing well with it. Considering using the PI to get the deeper target that the Wader will not reach. Has anyone gone this route ? Mr. Bill offered to sell me one at what I considered a very fair price.
A PI unit will help in the Sanded in beach.
I love the weight. I have an Excal, but if I want to go on a easy lite hunt I have the detector to do it.

The HHPI is a serious detector. Make no mistake . That little package is all power.
Once I figured out that I had the Threshold set to high the detector ran very smooth.

For the life of me I can't figure out if they started making a new 11" coil. I see what looks like the 8" coil maybe a little different being advertised by the big sporting goods stores. It is not the open face white coil that is for sure. If there is a new coil I would to hear how it compares to the old one. Either there is a new 11" coil or someone has made a serious advertising error again and again.

If you think the iron is manageable in your area you should get one. The salt water beaches eat the iron up faster. Except Atlantic City. The DP PI goes deeper I have heard...but man, that PI PRO goes
way deeper than any VLF machine I have owned. A hairpin 12" down, that's scary! Actually, if water hunting even without
discrimination you can still tell after while what's what. I don't think I dig much more junk than I normally do using the
Wader. . The PI is rather fun to use, reminds me of a smooth older non-motion VLF machine in VLF mode and a cross
with a BFO.

I'm going to brave the dry beach sands with my PI shortly, as I cleaned out most of the junk. Not sure how much more I'll find
using it. The sand doesn't go that deep.

By the way my first actual water hunt with the PI in an area that I worked numerous times found a 22KT man's ring, weighed in

I have a HH PI...it's a great unit. I have one that can use both the 8 inch and 11 inch coils, I only use the 8 inch coil. It's more sensitive to smaller targets, heck of a lot easier to pin point, can run it at it's peak frequency and it's still stable and it goes deep. I had the 11 inch coil and although it's deeper and has a wider search pattern, it's much harder to pin point and I could never run it at the peak frequency.

If you do get one, use Energizer batteries in it. They are the best for that unit. And since the HH PI runs on the full 18 volts, it eats batteries pretty quickly, but that is due to it's power. If you want to as deep as you can, get the 11 inch open coil. If you want a little less depth but a lot easier to use and the ability to get the search coil into the hole, more sensitivity to smaller targets and a heck of a lot easier to pin point, get the 8 inch coil. What is cool is you can swap out both coils...only problem is the coils are not cheap.
