Headed on over to a row of trees.
Within the first 15 minutes pulled up my first gold ring of the year. 10kt with a green stone.
Spent another two hours at this school, just cansalw, pull tab, bottle caps. Like where are the coins?
Came away with 2 dimes and a few pennies and a quarter. Not even a $1 coin.....................

Packed it up and went back to the schoolyard where I had to quit after it started raining the other day.
Pulled out the Wader for this place, might have to go back in with the PI. Anyways, started popping out coins,
mostly pennies, I hate pennies but, still dig them. Did manage to find two $1 coins, some dimes, nickels, quarter,
and a bunch more trash. And a sterling ring. Gave up after my wrist, knees, and shoulder started getting sore.
Rest up for another day........

Grabbed the Wader, left my PI at home,
expecting I might get wet.
Went to a schoolyard about 5 minutes away. First 10 minutes of hunting found a $1 and $2 coin, my hopes were high.....
I started to feel rain drops, no problem, will hunt under the trees. The rain started coming down a bit harder, found another $1 coin.
Then some pennies, a quarter. Dang rain.........finally it lets up and can get into the open areas again. Decided to only to dig the louder repeatable signals.
Wouldn't you know, the rain started up again.
Back under the trees I went, found some more coins. Then the downpour really started and wouldn't let up. Had to pack up and quit.
So for about an hours hunt came up with the pile pictured.
Think there's about $6.65

Well, did have a picture of the pile-o-trash that these coins and rings where picked out from after I emptied my pouch.
Accidently got deleted, its not posted.
Went back to this one school and cleaning it out more and more. After 3 hours still haven't found a Loonie or Toonie coin.
Kept adding pennies, dimes and nickels to my pouch. So it looks like all the big size coins have been dug. Continue to find
4-5" range pennies. Some sound like they are almost surface coins. By now the the sun was setting, still haven't found a $1 coin.
Told myself you can't leave until you do. Starting to get dark when I did manage to pull out a $1 coin, shortly thereafter a $2 coin was found.
Did find two rings. Top one in the picture is a Avon ring and the bottom a sterling ring.
Sure finding a lot of batteries lately.

The straight shaft
feels really nice, easy to swing and I like it. So I went across the street to test it out.

Had only 1 hour and 15 minutes to play. Going to tell you this particular area I hunted with lots of other VLF machines, was not expecting to find much of anything.
And yeah, took my PI across the same area that's set up for gold and doesn't like finding pennies. Well, the Wader found the pennies and more pennies. Surprisingly
the pennies were mostly in the 4-5" range. As the other coins I found.

I was impressed the EMI present didn't bother the Wader as it did the digital VLF machines.
Attention Mr. Bill (4 replies)

Mr. Bill, I want to say that I think it is a sad state of affairs when you use your position as moderator of this forum to close a topic to response after making one of your derogatory comments. May I remind you sir, of the Constitutional right to freedom of speech and the right to confront those who speak of us in a derogatory manner. Your comment that I do not know what I am talking about..in reference to Gary Storms answer to my question about repairs..is ridiculous, in that you know nothing about me. I have been in the metal detecting hobby for 53 years and was in manufacturing for 55 years years, so I am qualified to speak on that matter, more so than you. I have seen companies come and go by the dozens, and all exhibited the same symptoms, and excuses, as Detector Pro. I will restate my comment that, in todays global market, and with today's technology, sourcing quality parts from reliable vendors is not that difficult. As for the Pirate being made offshore, that bears no excuse, You only have to quickly scan the forums to determine that this metal detector has a poor reputation for quality, so why is it still being sold ? It also makes no difference how many PI machines have been returned for service. I don't want to be one of the people to purchase one only to find out there are not parts to repair it. I felt that Mr. Storm's answer was rude and indifferent, and in view of his companies poor public relations, a longer, explanatary answer would have served better to allay any fears from his customers. Evidently Mr. Storm is not concerned with that.. We get enough terse answers from the government ,why do we need them from business men?Sweep it under the rug seems to be the order of the day. It is also sad that the truth is trampled upon and downplayed in this country today, and those who stand up and speak the truth are ridiculed. You will probably delete this commentary, it really doesn't matter to me. I still will not buy anything made by, or from, this company. Uniqueness of product does not make up for poor quality or a management indifferent to customer's concerns..If I am proven wrong about Mr. Storms situation, and company, I will be the first to apologize, but until then, I stand my ground.

wader wont find gold (7 replies)

Detector pro waders dont find gold, i here that from the "experts" all the time..LoL NOT...

Hey amigos, the capt here, It's all about going slow, keep that coil scrapping the sand and diggin signals. My wader which is an old one and really worn out gets gold with the best of them. and I own the Pulse, excal and of course the wader. want to up your finds hunt with 0 disc or use it sparingly. use it after you locate a "good sounding hit" be it faint or loud, blasts usually are iron but not always. I see a lol of hunters racing and swing the coil in an arc, that only gives you a small area of max depth at the lowest point of the arc. ..not what you want to be doing. keep that coill completely flat to the sand your working, a flat arc. some beaches will give fausing in the water with wave action but you can still determine when a signal is good even so. Waders have some great advantages, no need to list them. heres some recent gold passed up by others: oh and develop a sense for the beach your going to hunt, spend time watching and learning whats happening.

Headhunter Wader (4 replies)

I'm new to water hunting and wanted to pick up an inexpensive unit to see if I would like wading around up to my chest. I have zeroed in on the Wader as being light and very portable. Something I can take along on my regular hunts. In reading several different sites I get the impression they are not too solidly built. Complaints of wiring contacts breakage, component damage if the headphones slip off your head and hit the ground.

Does anyone know if this issue has been addressed in the newer versions of the Wader? I understand it is made in China. Is that correct? Anyone care to comment on ease of use and quality of water finds? I would also use it on land as a backup to my main detector.

Thanks for any comments. Be kind.

Gord

A :ukflag:great Spring day (5 replies)

My wife told me to go out detecting as it was a warm spring day. Just thought I would go to one of the large rocky areas around the coast, there has been some big northerly storms so there was a chance that something off one of the thousands of ship wrecks around the county's coast could have been washed up.
As usual the 8 in Wader was great getting banged on the sharp rocks for four hours, nothing great but a good hunt.
The larger coin is a George VI Half crown and the other two are pennies, the last being a 10p coin.
The golf ball was just clearing the rubbish off the beach!!!
