Winter Shoreline hunting up North with the GT

Well, ok, winter is almost over and to be honest up North, we haven't really had a winter this year. Because of that (IMHO) that has caused more beach erosion than normal. Strong winter winds banging against the shoreline when normally during the winter there is ice covering the lake so this doesn't happen like it did this year. Due to that, the beaches are eroded more and some have huge cuts and exposed roots from shoreline trees and grasses. Yesterday I worked an area over twice in one hour due to the changing beach. I got to hunt a cut that hadn't been there on previous trips and watched as mother nature made another cut. When the winds are right, it doesn't take long to change the look of the beach.
I also found a place that had a steep slope with exposed roots and heavy black sand. Many fiberous roots sticking out of the sand the whole way down the slope. At first I figured I would be hard pressed to find anything there but I was wrong. No jewelry or real old coins but those roots were holding lots of clad. I didn't over hunt it since I want to take the wife up on Sunday to learn how to use the GT but I got at least $1 in clad in a 50 yard stretch. Using the GT in the black sand was fun,I had to move slowly to find the hits and they didn't sound like a normal hit (more like a fart) due to the null of the black sand but each one revealed a coin.
Best find of the day was a 43 S War Nickel.
By the way, I have been lurking here for months but after buying the GT and reading the info on this forum I just had to sign up. Huge amount of talent and info here, I've learned much and it has made the move to the GT quite easy. Thanks guys and gals for passing on all your information.
