(no replies)

I quickly learned that the pinpoint switch on the GT with the box mounted under the armrest is useless. I'm used to Whites where it's on a trigger next to your finger. Does anybody have a link to modding the GT for this and how did they mount the switch on the grip? Looking for ideas. Also, the meter needs raised and tilted back but I'm not willing to pay $20 for a piece of plastic to do this. Anybody raise it someway that's easy to DIY? I'm figuring drilling the rivets out and raising it on bolts?

Originally I tried a toggle but changed to push button less dirt can get in! looks nifty too!
7= mounted control box on upper rod with black nylon screw and nut from sovereign coil.I tried the control box in different areas and it balanced the best where I have it plus I can still see the controls just by glancing down.Get the box too far back and it wants to pick the coil up off the ground (manufacturers need to learn this)!
8=made a small slit in batter door(I have an extra door to replace to stock if need be) and ran remote wire from switch in and solder to back of front panel switch.(Just a light solder to hold it. Can be unsoldered if need be and back to stock)
9=Detector stand made from toolbox handle mounted using stock belt clip holes so can be returned to stock also!
10= Shortened the coil cable down to about 36" from 96" seems to have helped the sensitivity some!

There it is nothing fancy but it is what it is and works great for my hunting style.
Now I have the LOBO frankenSTein

Thanks for looking

Keith Southern

I've tried the Hot Shot on a prior QXT Pro I owned but it would false after about ten minutes. Tried another new one with the same results. Think it might have been a bad detector because this coil should work with any of these machines. Has anybody used a Hot Shot on a QXT with no problems?

Anyway, having a background in electronics I'm interested in building a 12" or so coil for my present QXT Pro to max out my depth on coins. I'd prefer concentric for less target masking and better depth but hear a double D is easier to build, though won't go quite as deep, but will go deeper in mineralized ground than the concentric.
Modified a used Sovereign XS for my wife to use on the Beach (3 replies)

I bought a great used Sov XS for my wife to use as a beach detector. On the standard rod it felt heavy and was awkwardly balanced so I ordered a White's pistol rod and S -shaft and mounted the Sov on it. Balances and swings great now. I put two V clips on the White's rod (one forward and one rearward). The rear position seems to balance better when the shaft is fully extended and the forward clip balances better when the shaft is in a shorter position. Also I installed a 1/8" jack wired to the disc/pinpoint switch and added a remote toggle switch into the White's handle grip. It can be unplugged if my wife wants to put the XS in the hipmount bag and use it that way. How do ya"ll think this mod will work out for her?
