Headed out this morning to a place I recently researched. It had a beach and a ferry boat landing. The boat and building have long disappeared, but a some older coins remained. No rings from the old beach, nor did I find any in the water. But an old area which I guessed could have been a rest area gve up most of the coins. I posted all my finds including junk as a reminder to new people getting into this hobby that we all dig plenty of junk. In fact, the more junk we dig, the better the chances of digging some keepers.
Below are the better coins from today: :detecting:

I know what the ???? item in your photo is.

Nice finds, John. We have a lot of ferry crossings and fords down where I live. Haven't a clue how to search one. Got any pointers for actually locating a ferry crossing, some of the indicators, how to search it, and how you discovered the "rest" area. The tell tale signs.

Now, as for the ???? item in your photo. It is an a Canadian Shotgun shell head stamp, made by DOMINION. it is a 12 gauge shotgun shell. Here is a photo of a 20 gauge shell head stamp made by Dominion, a Canadian manufacturer.<div id="div_e798d3dd6cbf776754e3745a9d59966e"

This shell was not intended for Canadian use but to be exported out of Canada.

Nestor
