It looks to thin for a mans belt.<br /><br />It looks like it is stamped out of copper sheet. Early buckles, before say 1850, where cast out of copper alloy or brass and would tend to crack rather than bend up like that.<br /><br />Boiling copper? Never heard of that one. Using pliers to gently unfold it, after wrapping the jaws of the plies in electric tape first and then placing it between 2 pieces of wood in a vice might straighten it out some. You want to avoid cracking it or scratching it IMHO. I have straighten bend silver coins that way with some luck.<br /><br />HH]]></description>

I try boiling it to get it back into shape. It would not move. It is some kind of buckle, but I cannot find a picture of one just like it. If it were flatten out it would be the size of a frame buckle????]]></description>

If it were a Georgia frame buckle, it would have teeth and an offset center. It seems to be very thin and obviously pliable. It could be the back of a fancy 19th century photo frame.]]></description>
