So for the past year (or thereabouts) I've been swinging my XLT and wondering when I was going to hit that first gold. At first I used the preset programs and found nothing but clad. Then, for about 6 months I started fumbling around with putting custom programs in...still no gold, but I did find a few silver coins and a big silver ring. Finally, I decided to simplify things last week by going with the preset Coin and Jewelry program with Tone ID and VCO turned on, and BOOM, I hit gold -- a 10K ring with a large aquamarine center stone and six small diamonds surrounding it. Then, the next day with the same program, gold struck again -- this time with a 14K ring with a round cut onyx center stone. Both rang in in the VDI 13-16 range (ring or foil).

I guess this is a lesson in simplicity!

Any tips on trying to find the owners of these rings without having scammers clogging up my email inbox?
