I LOVE my X-1 probe! (no replies)

I got my X-1 in the mail a couple days ago, and I HAD to run out and try it out the next morning. This has to be the best thing for metal detecting since the hobby started.

I can't believe I never bought one before. I used to use a Whites 6000 pro SL. I could pinpoint like crazy with it. But tilted coins, or two objects close together would always throw it off. You could never tell which direction it was "off", or if the object was simply DEEP. My new E-Trac is a great machine, but when junk is on top and beside a coin, it tends to pinpoint the shallowest target. The X-1 lets me know exactly which side of the hole I need to expand, or whether to just keep digging. It also make shallow, near surface targets a snap to find. I found a very thin metal ring just under the surface that I never could have located using my old, steel probe.

Why aren't these standard equipment on all machine?

Seems like maybe some tweaking might make it where you don't have any overload problems... but maybe there aren't really any problems anyway. I haven't seen any post griping about it, laff... so I assume it works well enough.

edit: I just re-read and posted in the "sticky" post about compatability but I thought i'd say this here too.
Question for Ralph (1 reply)

 I have a Minelab SE and use the Pro coil most of the time. I notice when using the X1 Probe I get a lot of falsing unless I turn the sensitivity down. For example, If I am detecting at a setting of 24 with little or no falsing from my coil I have to turn the sensitivity down to about 15 to get away from a lot of falsing from the probe. The probe will pick out the find but it creates confusion when you keep getting false signals. Is there a way to minimize the false signals and still use the same sensitivity settings for the Probe and the coil. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

WHITE'S SPECTRA V3 AND SUN RAY INVADER DX-1 TARGET PROBE COMPATIBILITY (4 replies)

WHITE'S SPECTRA V3 AND SUN RAY INVADER DX-1 TARGET PROBE COMPATIBILITY

The Sun Ray Invader DX-1 has been determined by us and the engineers at White's Electronics in Sweet Home, OR to be compatible with the new Spectra V3 with the following exceptions:

(1) The probes we have tested on the V3 did not overload on RX 15 (gain) with TX Boost on.

(2) However, the stock White's 10" DD coil may or may not overload with the DX-1 in-line depending on the tolerances from coil to coil. This has nothing to do with the probe or coil involved, rather with the switch (for switching from coil to probe and visa versa)

(3) It was found that by either reducing the RX gain a number or two ,or, disengaging TX Boost resolved the problem.

(4) In most hunting conditions RX gain cannot be used at maximum setting unless you are detecting on neutral ground such as a beach with no mineralization, especially with TX boost engaged.

(5) Other V-3 compatible coils, including non V-tuned coils (whether factory or after-market) may overload at max RX and TX Boost and may require a lower RX setting (or TX Boost disengaged). How low will depend on the coil and ground conditions, however, our tests showed other coils we tested only had to be lowered on RX a few numbers to cancel the overload if TX Boost was left engaged. (NOTE: Various tests described above were conducted by both Sun Ray Detector Electronics and White's Electronics in Sweet Home, OR. White's Electronics has approved the above compatibility statement.)

SunRay pro gold and more depth today (6 replies)

How could i make such a statement. You cant plug in headphones and get more depth well i did.Bought a xlt to try for the summer came with a cheap set of headphones and my good ones my son made i used on my mxt gave out and needs some parts to be replaced could hear some deep high tones in relic mode with them on mxt.So i been going around to sites with the xlt and wondering how to get more depth well it was some of the headphones fault really didn't realize what i was missing till i took the sun rays for a spin a couple of hours and man what a set of phones and build quality is like a Mercedes and so is the ride when you have them on my other phones kind of like a Hugo they will get you there but u aint looking pretty. So now i started to hear the threshold like i use to on my mxt and deep targets and whispers as i am swinging. Also they are pretty comfortable to boot ,also hear the iron grumbles and coins close to junk.So this is how i got more depth with head phones now iam starting to hear the deeper targets like i did with my mxt, didn't have to much time to use them and wouldn't you know it mail usually comes at 10:oo clock not today around 3 today and of course the box was dented and when i seen that a few fine words flew out of my mouth to USPS.But whoever packed them did a fine job.Dug through the box thinking in all this packing they might be a gold coin but a last just a post card with a picture of some great finds:rofl: .So now i wait for the weekend to really start to find stuff. Here is pics of finds tonight. The one penny next to the wheat is a 67 from side of house never ever found a coin on that side of house and been over it a hundred times mxt xlt idx with Mr,\.bills modifications ace 250 bounty hunter.Dont know if it was the head phones i believe it was.

[attachment 134125 DSCF4172.JPG] Tried a bunch of different programs to see how they sounded.
