"In the first place we should insist that
if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and
assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with
everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because
of creed, birthplace or origin. But this is predicated upon the man's becoming
in very fact an American, and nothing but an American. There can be no divided
allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also,
isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag, and
this excludes the red flag, which symbolizes all wars against liberty and
civilization, just as much as it excludes any foreign flag of a nation to which
we are hostile. We have room for but one language here, and that is the English
language. And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the
American people."
Theodore Roosevelt, 1907
Maybe next time the terrorists threaten to
execute a westerner we issue a counter-threat to draw cartoons of Mohammed.
Heck, maybe we've finally found something they value.
Sure doesn't appear to be human life.

"I consistently believe that when it comes to whether it's Native Americans or African-American issues or reparations, the most important thing for the U.S. government to do is not just offer words, but offer deeds."
Barack Obama (Gee... I wonder what he has in mind for us???)
I find it interesting that you mention the "process of government" and then suggest
that the Constitution does not represent today's principles. It seems you have failed to recognize that there is a "process of
government" contained within our Constitution that allows for such changes to be made to the Constitution. It is called the
amendment process (Article V of the Constitution) and it has been completed 27 times since the Constitution was initially signed. These 27 changes reflected an evolution in society's beliefs and were LEGALLY accomplished by using that very same "Process of Government", which is made possible by the very same document......our Constitution. It is important to note, however, the Constitution is not a "living" document, nor was it intended to be. Thankfully, our Founding Fathers recognized that principles are what constitute our society.........not the whims of individual politicians or the quest for unbridled authority from the Federal Government.

Thomas Jefferson's most famous quotes follow. You're sure to be astonished at how far we've fallen.""When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, we shall become as corrupt as Europe.""The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not."
"It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world."
"I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them."
"My reading of history convinces me that most bad government
results from too much government."
"No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms."
"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government."
-- Thomas Jefferson
"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."
"To compel a man to furnish contributions of money for the propagation of opinions which he disbelieves and abhors, is sinful and tyrannical. "
Finally... Thomas Jefferson said in 1802:
"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies.
If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property - until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."
