I turned it on the other day and the opening sound and picture came on, then the screen went dim. I can just make out the usual picture but no sound or pickup when moved over metal. The battery is charged.I'm unable to contact anyone at Minelab for tech support. This happened once last Spring in Fla. I took it in to Kellyco and when the salesman turned it on it worked and has since. Has anyone had a similar situation? Did you have to send it in? Leave a message or e-mail me @raschbrenner@yahoo.com. Thanks!

I would suggest doing a Master Reset/Reboot and see what that does.
It will at-least return the machine back to the factory default settings.

You will loose any custom programs you have though by doing so.

Very hard to say what is wrong with your XS, but if you use Skype, you can catch me where, name stasysba.
