I am relatively new to the explorer. I have an SE with the 10x12 SEF; a great set-up. I have been somewhat frustrated though with one of my test garden quarters buried at 10 inches with some iron nearby. But tonight the problem is solved thanks to Bryce's' settings which I read in an older post. The settings as follows which have revealed the quarter loud and clear with a nice consistent fluting high tone sound. The quarter ID's generally in the upper right hand corner of the smart-find screen. I can't wait to get out to the parks I have been hunting with limited success so far.

Limits-10
Max limits-10
Fast-Off
Deep-Off
Sensitivity-Semi auto 26 (manual 26 if the ground is clean enough)
Iron mask-22 -6 ON THE EXPLORER 2
Threshold barely audible
Everything else stock preset

Works good for me too ... and maybe occasionally tweaking the sensitivity to adjust for the site I am hunting. Have not dabbled too much in Manual sensitivity though.

what other settings are there that are stock preset and is there an easy why to set the detector. i set mine up today like yours but it sure takes a long time and there's no sure way to find each of the different settings.

All I have to say is "HOLY COW". I tried these settings at an older local park that has a lot of fill dirt but I did not have much time to venture out to better areas. This park has produced a few wheats and shallow clad in the past. But we did not find much else. These settings are a little strange getting used to due to the sometimes higher ferrous reading which must be influenced by iron or other junk. This ranged anywhere from 00 up to 20 or so. But the conductive reading was suggesting coins and ranged from 26 up through 31. In this park it appears that I have a whole new layer of coins. Usually the coins are very sparse in this park but in this new layer they are more densely concentrated. In a small area, roughly 10 foot by 10 foot, I dug 7 Lincolns at depths of 9 or 10 inches. I also dug a small brass wing nut and a very small brass hex nut. The brass hex nut was at an astonishing 10 inches for its size. I rechecked the hole an waived the hex nut over the coil to confirm that this was the target. When properly tweaked, this detector is truly amazing. The high tones are now much higher and the really deep targets are slightly fainter but still have that sweet high pitch.

You will need to get your manual to easily show you how to adjust each setting.

if your sites are all hunted out...put that dog at manual 26 and let it roll.

Will take some getting used to and obviously a little more chirping...BUT it might also punch down a little deeper which will allow another layer of oldies you haven't hit yet

using the Explorer. After I got used to it I tried Bryce's settings and they work great!

OK this is good. My front yard which was proclaimed "officially hunted out" has yielded three more old wheat pennies. I found these with the new settings and after a day and a half of steady rain which has saturated the ground. All three wheats were between 10 and 12 inches depth as indicated correctly on the depth meter. A nice clean plug was cut to the full depth of the shovel followed by some additional excavation until the Garrett pro-pointer picked them up so I know they did not fall out of the side of the holes. This is very impressive since the person who proclaimed my yard was hunted out was my buddy with his E-Trac. My wife is always telling me I'm a fool to keep searching the yard which is not that big to begin with. So in finding these coins I have redeemed myself

I'm very impressed with these setting as its hitting hard on our canadian coinage. I've been using my sniper coil and have been hitting coins @ 6-8" no problem but I think I'm SEF to go the extra mile and get them hard to reach oldies. Bryce when I first got the program from you I didn't like it but that was because I was still on the learning curve with the explorer and the sounds different targets made. Now that I have 100+ hrs on this machine getting those wharbles now it just music to my ears. I have tried to play around with the settings to see if I could tweek the program but don't think it can get any better!!! Thanks for the awesome help and thanks in advance for the awesome finds to come!!!

Also do you have a jewerly program that you've had good success with that you wouldn't mind sharing?

Here in the Detroit area we get our share of old Canadian coinage. My buddy dug a 1900 silver dime. I get a lot of Canadian pennies, probably half of the deep ones along with the wheats.

I'm up in Edmonton, Alberta and we get quite a few wheats up this way as well but I just wish there were more IH up here. I've only seen a few pulled from the ground here. Sure love the green thats on them when you pop em' eh!

WooHoo!!!! Got a small ladies 14k gold ring tonight in the same park we have been hunting this past week. This is the second gold ring we have pulled from this park; the one my buddy found and now mine. I will post a picture in a new post when I get around to it. It is a very small ladies ring made from white and yellow gold twisted together and flattened. Very nicely made.

Where on your screen does it read? I've air tested with my wedding band (14K) and it always reads 4 full squares in the middle lower right quadrant was this the same as you had when your found your ring today?
