5/6/17 Nokta Impact di99 ONLY air test

Special request for an air test(I try my best to honor ALL requests).

Standard air test warning: All machine can air test differently due to the conditions of each machine, the targets and the area it was tested. Not all results will be the same and this is NOT an indicator of what to EXACTLY expect when detecting targets in the ground.

Conditions:

Inside a living room containing much EMI

Running update:R1_V1.13_V1.11

Coins were waved until a faint REPEATABLE signal was still heard clearly HOWEVER, on some modes, I could push past.to gain another inch or so more, but the response would most likely not be heard in field conditions.

Standard coil, di99, iSAT 0, 3 discrimination.

55 gain:

5khz
dime- 10"
nickel-10"
quarter-12"

14khz
dime- 10"
nickel-11"
quarter-11"

20khz
dime- 9.5"
nickel-11.5"
quarter-10.5"

90 gain:

5khz
dime- 12"
nickel-12"
quarter-14"

14khz
dime- 11.5"
nickel-12.5"
quarter-13.5"

20khz
dime- 10"
nickel-13.5"
quarter-13.5"

No comments from me at this point.More field testing needed..

Will you try something for me as I wonder if it will make a difference. Try the same test, but start out with the coins as far as you can and bring them in until l you get a decent repeatable signal and see what the results would be. I always feel that those that start out close to the coil and then go out sometimes test better than those that start out far and come in.

I want to try this too, but haven't yet as I been too busy with other stuff and just wonder>

Thanks
Rick

I do both angles to and from the coil, and I use each hand as well, so at least four times I test each coin

What I am getting at is some of the ones I have tested if you swing the target close to the coil and get a good signal it is locking on and you can swing the target further away before you lose it as too swing the target out pass the max depth so it is not locked on and see where you can actually start getting the signal. To me if it is locked on and the depth would be greater until you lose the target, but starting out pass max and seeing where the detector is actually seeing the target, The target in most cases don't go deeper when the coil first see it, but when it first sees it you can get it get a better signal by going over it more and will lock on which happens in actual hunting. I have seen this happen with many different detectors over the years and many time see very good depth when it first sees it and locks on verses swing the target at max and bring it in until it gets the first repeatable signal.

This "lock-on" effect could be JUST for targets at close range OR repeated sweeps. When I was testing, I would pause a few seconds in between sweeps to judge any indoor EMI(I want to make sure it is the target that is being read). I haven't noticed the "lock-on" effect, but I will keep that in mind next air test(come to think of it, I had an interesting experience in the field which may relate). I have dug some deep targets(a .22 shell casing at 9 inches gave a banging jumpy high tone) so I don't have any doubts about depth with this machine.
