Score one for the Racer 2

Thought I would post , since the Nokta thread is getting all the attention lately :smoke:

Still can't quite get into our really old sites yet so have been hunting a "newer" older site here local. Managed to snag this lil baby the other day. Monte & I was out and he was testing/evaluating the impact. I hit this signal /target and was jumping mid 80's to mid 90's .....the audio was great the VDI numbers were jumping. I called Monte over and had him swing that new multi-functional toy over the target. He also got the same results. If you ever hunted old ghost towns and encounter the small rusty tin pieces that read high vdi numbers but jump around and drive you crazy....this signal was acting somewhat like that. We figured we might have a quarter in the ground.

I slowly dug down about 3 1/2 " or so and found the target. It was almost standing vertical.....just slightly canted. Out pops a 1945 WLH. Surprised me a bit. But is always nice to find some big silver. After we got the coin out we re-swung over the hole and it was loaded with iron......non stop low tone grunts. So that explains why a big ol' half dollar had some jumpy numbers, was standing vertical and surrounded with nails and other junk.

It came out completely black. I actually didn't realize at first what exactly it was till I took my shirt and gently cleaned off a little of it ( see pic)

All in all it was a fun few hours and it's my 1st WLH dollar., Monte managed to coax out a silver Rosie in that trashy site with the Impact.

Infact I am meeting Monte in an hour to give that site another try and I won't let that Impact machine push my Racer 2 around :drinking:

OG congrats on "snaking out" the Walker.

Gregg, Mine is the Cors Shrew and I haven't put on the OOR or the 5.5" since I got it. In fact, I sold my 5.5" because I preferred the OOR over it and I like the Shrew better than both. The Shrew (Snake) gives me equal depth to the Makro coils, as good or better separation with a little more ground coverage. I'm glad to see your's is treating you well. Just make sure you leave a few coins for the rest of us.

Very nice find!!!
Another of my bucket list items!!!
How's that snake coil working?
You prefer it over your 5.5x10 and your small round?
Didn't know you used aftermarket coils.
Was looking into those. Well cors but I hear they are the same company I dunno.
Happy hunting!!

Hi Stoof, yes NEL and CORS are same coils, different names. I think because of distribution agreements etc etc they had to sell under a few different names. Anyhow, The NEL Snake & Cors Shrew are the same coil. I really like the Snake coil, performs well and it stays on the R2 most the time now. (Hell even if the Snake coil didn't perform, I would still swing it anyways....kinda cool swinging a coil that shares the same name as all my ex-girlfriends) and If I encounter an area , less trash then I just grab the Fors CoRe with the 5.5x10 coil that stays on it full time. They make a nice combo

Stoof, generally the largest coil I use is the 5.5x10 on the CoRe. If you can get out West for one of the outings and see the kinda iron/trash etc that we deal with in these old ghost towns then you would see why we use the small coils. This year for example, I will use the OOR or 5 1/2" or the Snake coil prob 85% of the time or more and the last 15% a larger coil ( the 5.5x10). It,s rare I hunt a park, so once in awhile I might go hit the fringe areas of a ghost town that has less trash and use the larger 5.5 x 10 coil. The Staock coil for my R2 stays at home....never use it.

I use my 5.5 more than anything as well.
I hunt parks mostly and see kind of trashy area like the entrances to my apartment buildings. But there isn't too much trash there.
If I see a need, I'll get something that fills it.
My stocks coil doesn't see much time unless I'm out on farmland.
I do have the 5.5x10 concentric on the way for my relic. Very curious about that.
Ironically same day I ordered it from overseas, kellyco pits it up on preorder status....
Only took them a year haha. Good thing someone else pointed it out, I never got an answer to my many emails. Well one. Simply said "we don't stock it" that's it lol
But I live my concentrics on my tesoros and my soil is ok here so I'm excited to try it out!!
