My wife is killing it with her R2!

1905 s and 1897 s Barbers she found at a ghost town that everybody says has been pounded over the years. The Sage Brush and vegetation is so tall it's tough to find a place to put the coil. Even so, she pulled these two coins out of the Iron & Trash.

"All three?" you ask.

Yes, a Congratulations to the Racer 2 for its exceptional performance.

Congratulations to your wife for her patience, persistence and success in searching.

And Congratulations to you for being there to enjoy her success and take the photos.

I'm curious which coil she was using and which search mode and settings?

Hope you (plural) can get out more often and find more while the weather is inviting.

Monte

You guys have such exotic places to hunt compared to the boring midwest.

Nice job!! I assume this is in Utah?

I've been to a few similar looking sites in Nevada, always love to detect ghost towns

Thanks for the kind responses. We are lucky to have a great mining, pioneer, and railroad history in Utah. This particular outing was to an long gone railroad/coal camp in central Utah. Except for the remnants of the school, there is nothing left.

Lisa has really taken to her R2. Her other machine is a Teknetics T2 first generation with software update which is a similar platform but almost unusable when it gets chatty in poor conditions. The Racer seems to eat the bad ground for breakfast and runs very stable for her even at high gain.

Monte- her settings as best as I know (don't know the machine well) were 3 tones, gain 79, ID filter 08, notch filter 08, Iron audio 5, tone break 10. She was using the 5" coil which she never takes off. Her style is low, slow, and work a small piece of ground until it is empty.

One day when she's not looking, I will have to try the Racer 2 for myself!

Have her drop her iron audio down to 2 or 3.

It makes it easier to hear the nonferrous signals co-located with junk iron.

If I could pry it out of her hands to take it for a test drive, I just might end up having to get one!
