There are plenty of other youtube videos with other detectors doing the same depth or more

13+ inches in the dirt. Show me the video!

Yes show us the video,,

I really dont think we are going to get an answer. I dont think he actually detects. Look at his post history.... averages about 1 post a month, posts are in all different brand sub-forums. Last post I saw about mentioning a detector he owned was a nautilus 7 years ago.

Jason,

You may be right.

He just made a similar, skeptical post on another forum (which I am not allowed to mention here!) where he knocks another one of these "Equinox depth videos." No evidence to support his skepticism, just being negative for the sake of being negative, it seems. To each his own, I guess.

Twenty eight posts in seven years & now with no evidence to support his negativity?-----Does sound a little odd/strange.-----There's always someone that wants to "pee on the parade" I guess.------Myself, I think the reports/talks on this new Equinox are VERY interesting/refreshing from the "same old, same old".--------The real proof in the pudding (on this detector) can be summed up in three words-----"time will tell"!

Ok lets take these one by one....
1st video, there is no "empty ground" test. He shows us a target on a stick, but does not show that the ground is clear without the target in place. there is no way to see if this was a faked test

2nd video, those depths are far from impressive. I can get those depths with a 6 inch coil

3rd video, is exactly the same as the 2nd. what is that supposed to prove?

4th video, wow, it found a dime sized target at about 6 inches.... yawn.

last video, are you blind? No idea what the "target" was supposed to be but it was on a metal rod! On top of that they couldnt even run the detector stable. They had the ground balance so whacked it was falsing constantly (or else the machine had a seriously bad GB feature).

But please feel free to try again.

I haven't seen anything that's made me go wow, after all its still a VLF and to get past VLF depth to quote my old mate is to the power of 12 or something like that :sleepy: which means carrying around a wheel barrow of battery's to go to the next level :buds:

hey its main feature is its weight everything else is available elsewhere.

so for those wanting a light minelab its a win for sure..

Well, we don't KNOW if "everything is available elsewhere," as we don't know how much of a technological advance Multi-IQ really is (or isn't), so until we do, that might be a big deal on it's own...

But let's say it's not. Let's say it's just a "capable" simultaneous multifrequency technology.

Then my take on it is this -- YES, to quote you, "everything else is available elsewhere."

But that's part of the attraction, no? This unit appears to take the best attributes of several machines, and rolls them into one.

AT Pro/Max waterproof, but no multi-frequency, and no simultaneous...
Deus multi-frequency (if you buy the extra coils), but no simultaneous...
CTX simultaneous multi-frequency, but not single frequency (particularly no HIGH single frequencies, so it's not good on small gold).

etc. etc. etc.

Anyway, back to the multi-frequency thing...that, as I have said many times, will be the kicker, for me personally. If it's just "ho-hum," then this will be a nice backup machine for me, that will otherwise move temporarily into "first place," at times, in certain scenarios, on certain sites, for certain types of hunting. On the other hand, if Multi-IQ is what they are touting it to be, I guess it is possible that this machine elbows its way into "first place for me," relegating my Explorer to backup duty...

Only time will tell...

arh you guys you have one don't you come on spill the beans let us know about the new tech we are all eyes here :poke: do you have a ctx, deus and a equinox to do comparison vids for us all :sleepy: we are all waiting with over excited anticipation :clapping:

As I said in that other thread, AJ, I have a friend who is one of the best, most experienced detectorists I know; he is an expert with both his CTX and Deus, and he's pondering the idea of giving the Equinox a try, too. He has a site that would be one of the best "test beds" I can possibly imagine...

I will report back in, in several months, with his test results if he ends up trying an Equinox...or, encourage him to do so; I think he has an account here...

not saying its no good just keeping my feet on the ground see a lot of posts where people are expecting a magic wand and I think they maybe disappointed.

I will be happy to trade my Deus and CTX for this detector if it can do what they both do for me, if not then well I don't need it, might try it might not, plenty of time to ponder my decision not getting all out in front of myself here.

just sitting back shooting the breeze and seeing what comes down the road, but one thing that keepings ringing in my ear is its a VLF its not new tech..

but bit of fun anyway seeing peoples thoughts.

AJ

Yes, VLF is not new tech. However, that isn't to say that we can't find new ways of processing the data that vlf gives us to improve separation, sensitivity and vdi stabiliy, depth and resolution. Data processing power is advancing all the time and I would guess that it is mostly remedial in the metal detecting industry compared to other industries. I suspect we have a ways to go before we have tapped the full potential of vlf detectors. Same goes for PI detectors.
