Is there a detector that you can snorkel or dive with?
I'm confused about this because, According to detector pro my HH PI black headphones were not maid to go under water, and the Gray Ghost Underwater headphones will not work with my detector.
But they show a picture of a diver with a detector on there web page.

Cgate...I think the HH PI you have, with the black headphones, is just like mine and is rated to 100 feet. The ones with the black headphones are the older models. Do you have the ones that have the coil cable hardwired in, or the ability to swap coils ? I am reading the back of my manual and it states waterproof to 100 feet.

I am not 100% sure on the depth rating, so I suggest you give Gary at Detector Pro or Bill Crabtree at Surfscanner a shout to make sure.

Therover...Thanks for the info, Mine is the older model and I lost the manual for it.
Mine is the 11 inch coil and the cable going into it looks like it is removable with a plastic nut.
It's been in my closet for a few years not being used.
I really like metal detecting and I decided I'm going to get back in to it again, I've just been to busy at work and stuff.
I live in Central FL and I like the beaches.
I just wanted to make sure mine is OK to snorkel with before I do, and I guess I'm still not a 100% sure.
But I can still do a lot with out getting my headphones wet I know, but I think it would be fun to go underwater with them if I could.

Thanks, cgate

Even if it does not have the metal connection and it is hard wired in. What I would do though, is check the seal of the ear cup with the batteries and make sure it is seated properly when put back on. It should 'click' in with a snap. Also, check to make sure the gasket that is in the groove is not dried out and cracking.

The other side, with the guts, is sealed at the factory and can't be opened so I am not sure how you can check it. If you do decide to dive with it, it may be a good idea to have it checked out by Detector Pro. Their service is top notch, it does not cost that much for a check up and it would give you some assurance that it's ready to take a dip.

I never dove with my Head Hunters but have gotten them wet in pouring rain and the occasional wave going over my head and have never had a problem with them....but that's not diving and I know there is a big difference.
