Went down to a new beach yesterday as the forecast for today is bad, there is now a storm blowing.
Guess what, another 65 large fishing weights including one of a 1lb, total weight 15lb and a stainless steel fork.
I go to areas where no other detectorists go as I think that is where anything from one of the about 6,000 ship wrecks around Cornwall could be washed up, as I find thousands of weights one of these days something of a similar density will be in my finds rucksack.
Had to stop yesterday as again trying to bend down and keep your balance with 15lb of lead in my rucksack is just about impossible.
The tackle shop man was on the phone and wants lead to make new weights, so I shall take about 75kgs in for him and then start again, at a £1-$1.50 a kg the money will come in handy.

Jan1,

are you using the Wader? I'm still waiting until I can get to the ocean:lol: Land-locked here.
That's a lot of sinkers!

Hi Ken.
Yes I am using one of the old Waders with the blue shaft.
Combined with a Vibra probe 580 this is the perfect combination for use in the water.
If you look at Cornwall on Google you will see that in some areas it is only about 15 miles wide in places and we live half way across the county so I am within an hour of about 300 beaches.
With the Wader being so robust banging it against rocks for up 5 hours a day, no other detector would stand up to the does no damage, I reinforced the bottom of the shaft with one inch plumbing pipe so I can use it as a walking stick when I slip on the rocks.
I have been looking at a PI but I may as well just wait for the storms to remove the sand or wash the goodies onto the rocks, we get 100mph storms all the time.
As Cornwall was trading with the Minoans up to 4,000 years ago there are reputed to be up to 6,000 ship wrecks around the coast so I keep looking for the mother load and not the trash the Emmets (tourists) leave behind.
Have a good detecting season.
