Haven't had much time to get out, and the beaches here have been pretty brutal in terms of targets.

The UW did well on the wet, salt sand and in the dry. I don't go underwater, so I cannot comment on how it holds up in actual under water conditions.

All in all I like the unit a lot.

Hopefully I find more time this Fall/Winter to get out more and use it.

Hi Frank

I haven't used the released new one, but the one I had looked at a while ago was just great. It's as sensitive as one could make a VLD detector, and use it in the salt water. The battery life is exceptional. So long it would sound like BS if I told you. You may be able to get a whole week out of it before charging. This is a detector that one doesn't have to worry about changing out batteries. If I was still in the detector business, I would send you one to try out. :) :)

I think the majority of water hunters want multi tones and the choice of different coils. Only 8 inch is available right now. Steve

You could put a 10'' on. like the one on a cobra beach magnet. Thing is you'll be doing it with a cable splice.
