Initial thoughts on 8" Headhunter UW

I finally got out to a local freshwater swimming hole with the 8" DP Headhunter UW. I was digging a few rusty nails with disc at 3 so I tweaked it up to almost 4 where the nails started crackling and didn't dig any more. I was surprised at the depth I was getting on coins and found a few old spent bullet casings at 8-10" that gave a soft repeatable tone. If you understand and like Tesoro style beep and dig machines you will love the Headhunter UW.

Thanks Joel! It is such a fun unit for diving and snorkeling! It packs so well in with my dive hear that it is almost un-noticeable.

Had it used it. Dissapointed in it being a repackaged pirate pro. The 8 inch coil does nothing but sound off every little bump on the sand surface under water. I can even give the unit a little wobble and the unit sounds off. That kind of thing doesnt impress me.

I am going to probably swap out coils on this unit and go from there. I seriously said this before but if the Detectorpro had a fisher cz5,6,7,20,21, or 3D stuffed inside the headphones. and waterproof. WELLLLL. there would be no need for anything else.

Project in the works.

Have it ,use it, very sensitive indeed to the smallies. Thinking I'd like the unit with a bit larger coil. Runs a bit hotter then the older units but for the most part it will get the job done.

Just bought it. Looking forward to using it.
My beaches can be tough, so I am not expecting amazing depth like a PI, but I have used one before and was very happy with its performance.
It may not hit a deep gold earring, but a gold ring, oh yes.
It will.
Trust me.
Its a joy to use and no other water machine can come close to offering the same ergonomics. In a long beach hunt, that means a lot.

As always, any post I make here is solely my opinion based on my own experience and knowledge. Feel free to disagree.

Those little bags filled with silica gel is the first defense against any condensation that might form during temperature changes to help absorb any moisture. Hot surface temps heating up the headphones, then plunging into cold water could cause condensation. You will find the gel bags in most water machines.
Clear headphones, let you see if any water got inside if diving with them.
