Had to keep my mouth shut while hunting

From the land of the Bluenose......bang, bang bang! After a 12 hour shift that ended at 6am the last thing I wanted to hear at 11am. Our building super, a.k.a. "Bob the Builder" was once again playing with his hammer which would , without a doubt cause Bob Vella to take it from him and Martha Stewart to say, "And that is a good thing."

Enough was enough so I grabbed my gear on a rather dismal day and headed out to Tim's for a coffee to complete my rude awakening.

Arriving at a local park in a transcendenat haze I began my lacadaisical meandering throughout the campsite area. The usual pennies began popping out along with a silver 1966 dime. I realized after a short time that I was not alone as an entourage of blackflies were buzzing me looking for a quick bite to eat! Man oh man so much for my "quiet time." Having a bad cold that I have been nursing for the past few days with Niagara Falls flowing out of my nostils I managed to extract some degree of retribution on my pests everytime I sneezed and aerated the area. Mind you if I had my mouth open at any other time I would be feasting on sushi bugs. Of course they had fun flying in the tunnel between my two ears.

Enough was enough so I packed up and motored to a common green area in Waverly which is used yearly for various events during "Waverly Gold Rush days." Here was digging utopia as there were no dogs, no rugrats and very few blackflies and a slew of clad just begging to be freed from the soft soil and put back into circulation. Bless had arrived and I dug my feeble mind out for the next two hours heading home with 95 coins ($7.53) and the hope that Bob the Builder was done so that I could cop a few zees before going in for my next nightshift.

I sure wish....

Sure sounds like a tough time you had Leslie. I can understand. Things seem to go from bad to worse until it can't get any worse and gets better.

In the end it looks like you did well on the metal detecting - congrats Leslie - and hope Bob the Builder had put away his hammer so you could get some sleep.

Good things about headphones is not having to have bugs like deer flies trying to drive you nuts by buzzing around your ears. Hmmmm. Maybe I should add a pair of nylons to my detecting kit (as a way of keeping bugs out out eyes, nose, mouth, ears, etc.)

I usually carry a spray bottle of bug spray (DEET) in the van so I have it handy.
