When I went to Canada on one of my visits, my visit overlapped with Bull. Besides meeting him after talking to him for quite some time, he gave me two things, well, two things besides a hard time about everything he, Mikie and Royal gave me over everything. These two gifts were a small flashlight, and a large insulated coffee cup.

Since this visit, I have used the flashlight numerous times. It has a very strong light in it, and will blind you, but yet it will fit in a purse or tackle box. It was even used one night on Lil Brothers boat to get us to the dock around dusk because for some reason his lights were not working. If the electricity goes out, I reach beside my bed in the bedside table and bring it out. Thus, light. This happened to us just the other night. My trusty little flashlight would not work. It had a very faded beam. I took it apart and found out it needed three little batteries AAAs. I put it all together and after putting the batteries in about six different sequences, I finally had it back and working fine. My great flashlight once again came thru bright and clear.

The cup was nicknamed Nanas Big Sippy Cup, as they all had one at my house for each of them, so why not Nana? I use it every morning holding two cups of coffee, and if not coffee, then I use it for my diet Coke. These two things are not that important in life some might say, but to me they are very special. They came from a new friend, and they both are very handy.

So, I would like to thank Bull again for these treasured gifts. I think about you every day when I use them. I bet when you gave them to me you thought I would never give them another thought! You were wrong, because I use them so much, and when the flashlight went out on me, it saddened me for some unknown reason. And my sippy cup? Well, it has been rescued from other peoples cars, from the beauty shop, and even from a Wal Mart lost and found when I had left it in my cart one time, and someone had the decency to turn it in. I liked that.

And I really appreciate your gifts AND best of all I appreciate your friendship. You can never have enough of any of the three, most of all the friendship. Thanks again, Bill! :cheekkiss:

Later, Sunny

Now that was nice to write about, something remembered for a lifetime is often so simple and thoughtful.
Bill and Carol also gave Carol and i a wonderful gift and we will never forget their kindness when they visited us:clap:

Mike, Royal, Alice, myself and you blended so well at the "gathering"..

I have not shared much of a personal note on this forum and not really comfortable doing so now with the lurkers who
offer little if anything to this forum, but....... I remember a time when friends were in short supply, very short supply.
As an only child living with my mother times were tough to say the least. No money for a female worker in those days.
I joke with our children about considering a chicken neck, beans and bread a feast. Not sure you can even buy
chicken necks anymore. Couple that with the fact that my Dad who had been commited, broke out, stole a truck and a
shot gun and made a be-line for our place. He kicked the door in and the last thing I clearly remember is
him waving a double barrel shot gun in my face and my mom trying to get between us. Fortunately for us, in his
state of mind, he hadn't stolen any ammo and the police were right on his tail. It was a very confusing time for a six year old boy.
Keep in mind he was sick. He wasn't my "Dad" anymore. After that day, I was driven to school and had to wait
on the school steps with a teacher or parent until Mom could pick me up. I couldn't be left alone. On top of that, we were
advised to move every two years to a new town to help hide ouselves. This meant Mom couldn't land a good job and I could
never seem to make or keep a friend. Maybe that's why I'm accused of being so outgoing as an adult.

I am not sharing this for any other reason than to say why I truly value family and friendship.
And in just a short time I know I have found a good friend in Sunny.

Thank you, Little Girl.

Hi Sunny,

Those little lights are great!! I have one I bought several years ago that has one Triple A battery. It is so small I carry it in my pocket all the time. As a repairman, I have used it countless times; as a husband, father and Grampa, I have made sure each of my loved ones has one so they are never without a light and so when they use it they think of me. There are quite a few versions of the light available from some even tinier than the one I have to a version larger than the one you have.

I have one like yours for when I need more light.

I really enjoyed your post Kiddo,

Cupajo

PS Great photo too!

The gifts are nice.... not in and of themselves.. but for those close memories that they invoke.

However, next time you meet Bull, ask him for a gold ring. :): oh wait, he hasn't found one yet. Okay, maybe an old Canuck coin... Just a minute.. he has not found one of those either. :): Just kidding, as you most certainly know.

I treasure his friendship as well

Love you
