I've been using 1936 aerial photography for hunting research without much luck to date.
Been trying to get accurate comparisons of historic and current photos, so I can locate front porches, and the path from parking to the front door.
Found a spot in the middle of a little park in my neighborhood where I thought the front door would be, and went to check it out last night.
As you might imagine, I got a little chill/thrill upon uncovering my FIRST DIG! Looks like a copper front door knob to me. (pictured) So far, the time involved doing the research hasn't been worth the effort, but I'm not giving up yet.
There was so much other junk in the area, I gave up until I can come back with the 5.75". Decided to hit the tot lot. Scraped up over $2 from there.
Just thought it's pretty cool that you can figure out where a front door was 70 years ago. :yikes:

hey pole wagger, get a probing rod! with a two handed t-handle and prode, listening for the CRUNCH! might find a bottle pit/old trash pit or a well filled in. then some serious digging! we find old brick pathways with them, and buried foundation bricks, cast iron pieces etcc... gotta be something there. PS the door knob would make a great short probe handle!
