Lesche Digger question
Posted by: ccclontz

Several members of the forum have expressed their satisfaction with the Lesche Digger. Is it the standard one with right serrated blade? What is it about this digger that makes it so preferred over other diggers? I have been using in gravel driveways a tool with a pick on one side & a blade on the other side & bent the edge of an antique coaster by hitting it while digging for it by chopping at the gravel so I am exploring what tools are available. Thanks for all your helpful tips. Cathy in NC

Lesche / Predator tools are almost indestructible with 5 year warranty.

Bells and whistles are nice, but nothing will substitute for the basic understanding of the hobby.

CC,

I am new at this game, but I bought a Lesche digger, and have used it enough to see that it will be a great asset.

One thing, if you are right-handed you might want to get the left- side serrated digger, and vice-versa. Having the serration on the opposite side lets you forced down on roots and things that you want to cut through.

This digger is tough. The only thing better IMO, would be to have a shovel type digger that one could dig with without having to bend down so much. Of course, I'm an old $@^ and don't like bending down any more than I have too.

I have a minelab knockoff lesche digger, it was given me for free. The soil here is like concrete, it won't last more than acouple of holes before it is a twisted mess.

You get what you pay for. Buy quality & it lasts a long time. You can keep on buying junk that keeps on letting you down by breaking & you buy another piece of junk, till in the end you've spent more than if you had bought the quality tool.

Quality steel does'nt bend easly & keeps a good edge. Also it does'nt let you down by breaking at inopertune moments, wrecking your MDer outing. With good equipment you do'nt have to have backup tools (like a extra digger), that does'nt mean though I don't have alturnitive digging metheds avalible, depending on where I'm hunting..........say: scoups (plastic/metal) - probe - pick - shovel (Lesche).

Your weapon of choice depends on you hunting grounds...........I've dug 3 foot holes useing a PI detector & a pick - plastic scoop & shovel (Lesche) prospecting out in the boonies, where having tool failer can wreak your trip & cost $$$$$$ !!!!

Don't waste your time and money on other diggers, get the best. Get a Lesche.

I haven't found any digger that I prefer over the Lesche. In fact I've got 2 of them.

I have been around long enough to know that Predator\Lesche is top shelf. I have a Predator Raven 25 shovel on the way and I'm considering a Lesche digger. I have used a Hori Hori knife for several years now and it is rock solid, virtually unbreakable. Down side is that the blade is thick and it's hard on the hands\wrists by the end of the day, so will likely go with the Lesche.

Since the Lesche are very expensive, I decided to go for something a little cooler looking for a lot less money. A lot less. $40 to be exact. I bought it around Christmas time and since then, they went up in price. Gotta love sales.

I use the Radius« Ergonomic Stainless-Steel Digging Tools. I purchased their spade. Very cool or even sexy looking

I got the (C) Spade. Best thing it's stainless steel and it sharp cutting thru roots like a hot knife thru butter.

I use an A.M. Leonard soil knife and it is an excellent quality digger that is more compact than the Lesche and cheaper too. You can google A.M. Leonard and check the digger out. It sells for 20 bucks without a sheath or about 28 bucks with a sheath.

You will really like the Raven 25....... a word of caution though, don't try cleaning the blade with your hand or even gloved hand. Those teeth on each side are VERY sharp and WILL get you. :stretcher:
