Took the C downstairs for a going over with my audio test gear.
These tests are on my Cibola. Your test results may vary.
Gear used: Goldstar AO-3001C Audio Frequency Counter/Function Generator.
Fluke 8020B DVM
I was going to focus my testing on waveform analysis but my old Leader CRT scope doesn't show enough speed or resolution to show what's going on inside the sine wave that the coil emits. I only used inductive coupling to take measurements. Using the inductive pickup on both the 9X8 & 5.75 rendered a maximum 1.3VAC@14.1kHz.* The same test on the Famous Trails 1023 only gave a .2VAC@6.5kHz reading!
*Voltage reading dropped slightly, switched from center, to RH, to LH position. Center frequency provides highest inductive voltage delivered from coil.

Here are some of the coil frequency results from my test.
C&V advertised freq. 14.3kHz 14.5kHz 14.7kHz

I found the tones to be far more complex than a single frequency, more like a harmonica. I tried my best to identify the dominant tones and the ranges.

Audio Tones/Pitches: Disc* AM1* AM2* Batt Test Thresh Cont Lowest Tone Thresh Cont Full CW
Low Range 280Hz 240Hz 365Hz 390Hz 240Hz 365Hz
High Range 590Hz 480Hz 730Hz
* Disc tones are combined as one, while AM High-Low tones will "sweep". Consider AM1&2 each as one combined, sweepable tone.

I tried to repair this so it's readable.
I'd like to hear back from anyone who can do frequency tests on their C or V
Very curious if the variations are consistent from unit to unit

What did you use to test?
My measurements were taken with an inductive pickup so there would be no interference with the circuit.

Just trying to get some across the board figures on how much variation there is from unit to unit.

Hz = cycles per second.
Induction is the electromagnetic field that the coil produces.
A simple coil of wire can be used in close proximity to the search coil to take voltage and frequency measurements.
My voltage reading is a nominal measurement taken with a specific inductive pickup, and only used for reference. The frequency can be measured with any inductive pickup and a frequency counting device.

All you need is a frequency counter of some sort, and a coil of wire of some sort.
It's as easy as 2X2=5!
