Went back to the field near me today with the Vaquero. Trying to get use to it every chance I get. I was extremely excited as the first signal was about 7-8 inches deep and out comes an 1864 2 cent piece. It was great because its a place that I was told was hunted out. I always manage to come home with at least some memorials and some clad. I only had about 2 hours to hunt today and only found a couple of memorials and a clad dime after that. I will go back again.

Very nice find... those 2 centers aren't easy coins to find. Keep going back to that site and the V will reward you with some nice old coins especially nickels.

Wish we had more old coins like that around here!
Was that found in AM or disc?
AM is serious deep.
Nickels are scarce unless you run disc very low. (or dig broken targets)

I was using discrimination. I had it set at the line below 5 cents, then I thumb the control to see where it knocks out. I haven't found any nickels with it yet. The Vaquero is seriously a nice machine.

seems to be a recurring theme. Fellow gets a new Vaquero and immediately starts finding good stuff.That coin is older than any i have ever found.

Hatpin, If it makes you feel any better its the oldest coin I've found. I was always watching others find old coins while I found clad, well like the song says "the times they are a changin"! I will say I feel like I really know this detector and feel really comfortable with it, so that may have something to do with it. I believe its one of the best detectors out there.

Great find! The Vaquero is the best md I currently own or for that matter, ever owned! I'll take out another md to change it up at times, but I have the most confidance in my "V". Tesoro's rock! Keep posting those great finds.
