Short hunt with Vaquero rewarded with 1870 IH cent...

I went up to an old home site after work and searched for a couple of hours to see if I could find a goodie or two, but targets were few and far between except for shotgun shells... actually they are getting hard to find at this site now, but I did find about 4 of them this afternoon.
I searched around some rocks thinking that my buddy and I may have overlooked a good signal because of weaving in and around exposed rocks.
I finally got a very good signal next to a small rock and found this 1870 IH cent not 1/2 inch in the ground.. In fact at first I figured it was just a new penny until I looked at the back and it didn't see the memorial. I then realized it was an IH cent.
It is badly corroded, but this coin must be possibly a key date, because I looked up in my coin book and even in G4 condition, it is worth about 60 to 70 dollars.. I'm sure this one is not worth anywhere near that much, but at least the date is legable.
Just goes to show you that no site is ever hunted out... just have to look a little harder for the finds.
Thanks for looking,
Felix

Very nice,

I love to find indian head pennies,.....it gives an indication of good things to come, and the age of the hunting grounds.

" If in doubt, dig it out"
