I like my Vaquero just the way it is and I'm not sure if I would trade it in for a multi tone model or not.
Actually, after you spend some time with it, you can tell some tone variations even though it is a mono tone unit.
I like to use mine around old home sites out in the middle of nowhere and the lightweight advantage is more important to me than multi tone.

I know I've seen many people say that the Vaquero with multi tone functionality would be such an awesome detector. I definitely agree with this statement. What I'm curious to know is could it be a possibility to do? Im not talking about making a totally new detector, but do you think there will ever be an upgrade that Vaquero users can get so that the machine has multi tones? I'm just curious and was wondering your guys' opinions

If they did that I'd buy one tomorrow.
Heck, all I want is three tones. I don't even need four.
A low for iron junk, a mid tone in case I want to hunt jewlery, and a high for coins if I just want to coin shoot.

I used to hunt with my buddy's multi-tone XTerra 705. On trashy sites the unit is playing complicated music so in an hour you have headache listening to it. Really, how will the 3-tone unit sing if a copper coin is surrounded by nails? Now I own Vaq and just love it - everything sounds simple. Besides that it is much easier to swing than that 705, and the V consumes less batteries.
