I found a couple heavier gold rings with the silver but it wouldn't scratch on any smaller gold jewelery.

Seems like you have to switch to all metal mode for the disc to drop down enough into the range to pick up the small gold when using the Silver.
OK. Ready for this? I WAS in a/m with the Silver when I checked it, but found the thin gold chain at small iron nail disc! Right at the "i" in iron.

On other forums I seen guys post pics of small gold found with other tesoro 10khz machines and I didn't know what to make of it, other than maybe it was just the silver umax that wasn't that hot on gold. After reading this I think it must have just been my machine that wasn't that hot.
If I hadn't just bought a compadre with the 7" coil I might be ready to try the silver again. I truly did like that machine.

I also just got a Compadre during winter, I only got to try it a few times. I did a youtube video on how it handles small, and I mean small gold pieces found in a gold mine in BC. 3" for All Metal, and on i in iron it get 1", the r in iron produces no tones. (

I heard the uMax probably would not get those results. Mainly because of the difference in frequency.

I sometimes think it would be nice to have a deeper seeking Compadre. But most of the stuff in parks are within 7", plenty of depth for the Compadre.

Does anyone know if the Compadre will handle black sand. I heard it's suppose to be Iron. If the Compadre hits at 1" on i-ron, I wonder if I'll have to set it higher in Iron descrimination? Anyone know where to find this black sand in a city to test it on?
