Vaquero and depth

Took my V out for a short run today, the ground is extremely dry here so digging is a PIA and it doesn't help a detector any. With that being said I can tell you the V still goes extremely deep! Had a signal today that was lower in the sound so I new it was gonna be deep! I figured a copper penny at 8" and it had some halo to it but the discriminator looked good as I turned it up into the copper/dime range and just before I got to full discrimination it started to cut out. Those deep ones that will stay solid that far up in discrimination should always be dug. Turns out it was just a memorial at 7-1/2". The V is very deep considering it could have been deeper and I still would have dug it due to the sound being at a descent level. I found a few pennies and nickels but they were all within 5". I can't wait to give it a run in some damp ground once we get some rain. I wanna see what the deepest coin is I can find. I am excited about this light- weight that is big on power!

Hey Jeff,
Try this, if you haven't yet.
When you set your GB, use frequency 2 and get it as neutral as you can, then use freq1 to hunt in disc.
I'd like to find out if this can be used as a standard method for optimizing GB for best depth and discrimination for the C & V. A coin garden can help to confirm test results.
If you haven't heard, I think it was Monte who suggested setting your GB slightly negative to hunt in disc. (for the C & V) I did some extensive testing in my coin garden and found a predictable change in the polarity of the GB when the frequencies are changed. I thought that this might help out those who swing an unmodded C and change coils often.
Some Tesoro users like to get the maximum performance out of their unit and others are content to have a silent discriminator. After reading your post, I figured you would like to get the most out of your treasure finding tool. :tesoro:

I will give it a try next time I am out!

Thanks,
