GB only affects all metal so disc would be preset just like Deleon

Well it does have sum mode with many tones and notching, but being that I've never used it, I saw no reason.
I'd still like one. And I'll probably keep my eye out for one on the bay. They pop up fairly often. And usually for around $400

I'm with you Stefan, I'd like to have one, mostly because I like the D so much.

The display is larger and easier to read on the D and they both run in factory preset in disc mode so no advantage one over the other there. The Cortez does indicate dimes and pennies under their own marking, but any target that hits "95" on the D should be retrieved, regardless and that's where dimes end up. The Cortez does have manual ground balance in all metal, but most of us don't spend much time hunting in all metal so that's a moot point, as well.
