Hey folks, does (or has) anyone here use (used) the pre-μMAX Cutlass II? Just wondering how it was on depth, and how well it did in trashy spots with bottle caps or small nails.
Here's the model I'm asking about:

Average Tesoro depth and performance, similar to current Silver umax.If its priced under $115, worth getting. You could find them on ebay at times for as low as $75

I modified the two I had to straight shaft

Quest Pro & Q40, Nokta Impact
Self built Mirage Pi's --- they work great in trashy areas!!

Nice; thanks.
Got both of the later μMAX Cutlass models so thought I try out an older one, too. Always good to have another loaner for when my kids come over. :twodetecting:

comparable, performance wise, with the Silver Sabre II. The same housings and battery power, with the difference being that the Silver Sabre II had a selectable Threshold-based All Metal mode and a crude Threshold trimmer knob near the coil connector / battery access.

The Cutlass II, also with a preset GB like the Silver Sabre II, lacked the true All Metal mode. It uses the ED-120 Discriminate adjustment range, and the All Metal selector is simply a bypass of the variable Discrimination, and is still a silent-search, motion-based Discriminate mode that accepts both ferrous and non-ferrous targets. Handy detectors to have around if you find a nice, clean specimen at an affordable / reasonable price. Great to use, but I like them as a 'loaner unit' to have on-hand.

Thanks, Monte.
Might you know if the Cutlass II has an internal GB trim pot?

Yes, it should, but I haven't had one open since the year they were introduced. :shrug:N/T
