How about a hard wired Mojave water proofed enough for wading. Screw cap for the battery and a and clear plastic face plate cover with gasket.

No engineers = no new products. Sad, but that's the situation. The owners are inwilling pr inable to make the investment necessary to develop new machines. They will continie to do what they are doing as long as it makes financial sense, then Tesoro will disappear. All companies disappear eventually.

They make great beep and dig machines, and they make them well. I still believe they are the most enjoyable machines out there.

I wish they would do something a little different too. They did hop on board and start offering DD coils with some of their models. But a change of color is a little disappointment they past few years. I am a fan of the brown box units still compared to like the vaquero and cibola. I have never tried a tejon but have played with a few. I think it is a super nice unit. I wish they would go back to some models or reintroduce some good units no longer in production. Also I totally new unit, would be cool too. Something with analog and digital controls that is waterproof would be real cool.

In my detecting arsenal i currently have 4 Tesoro/Laser based machine 2 old but closet queen brown boxes jobs,Compadre still like new and why i fell for all that hype as all i have used it for is a pinpointer with the 4'' coil on,then the last machine and the only one that i occasionally use is the UK version of the Vaquero which runs and 18.5khz,fixed/manual GB and the 11x8 coil which i have never used but i do like using this machine with the NEL Snake on trashy roman sites. But apart from this one machine which is only say once a month used. All the others just gather dust.

My personal verdict is i 'will' probably never fall for the Tesoro hype again, and just keep the ones that i have in my detecting arsenal but mothballed, its a shame really but no one here in the UK buys these machines, they may serve the US market needs of tot lots and those type of environments but for the UK market you just cannot compete with the likes of the Deus, even Garrett machines are extremely popular, but in the last few years even Whites of which i was a very big fan have just floundered.

Nokta/Makro who have only been in the detecting arena for such a short time duration listen and produce what us the detecting public want and not something that was/is designed by Noah in the Ark,hope they come out with something decent but after that fiasco of asking us for a detector name and all the build up hype and then never producing it,well scenarios like that can/do damage the companies reputation, you cannot live off the companies laurels from say 20-30 years ago and no one too replace the founder who 'did' design some classics after he passed away.

Deus and Nexus MP main everyday detectors

Displays on a Detector are really the equivalent of relying on sub-titles,give me a Analogue machine anyday.

Some of my site specific use machines.
TDI Pro 20'' Mono
Nexus SE dual 9'' coil
Nexus MP 14x13
Fisher TW-5 twin box
Crossbow PI 14x9 Mono
Mirage PI 5'' Mono
DFX 18'' Detech
T2 SEF15x12
IDX Pro 15'' Concentric
Arado120b
B1 and B3
Trident11 Extreme NEL Snake

Mainly hunt deep ploughed and pasture sites, trashy roman/saxon and celtic permissions.

I agree. With Tesoro completely dropping out of social media. It is evident that they cannot take any criticism. In a FB group I'm in, earlier this year, they did a poll of what machines we used out of the top brands. Just under 700 people replied and only 6, including myself, use a Tesoro. Dead last by far. So, the numbers don't lie as to how unpopular their machines are in this day and age. Of course there are those who believe everything Tesoro does is pure genius. However, with actual numbers like that, it's not the case at all. Tesoro's former glory is well over.

Well, looks like all detector makers are running out of what to come out with:shrug:Also might be government stricter restrictions,in European countries they are more lax.

The analog signal of a Vaquero is like a voice , its smooth , abrupt , subtle , screeching , soft, edgy ... It speaks .

Little older post but very well stated...it SPEAKS. Same with my Whites IDXPro. The "quality" of the monotone is what the ear needs to decipher, pretty different than a multi tone machine. And it takes TIME to understand. Excellent post Hatpin.
