Do i need to set the groundbalance and treshold also in de disc. mode???of is it only need for hunting in all-metal mode.
I know to do this in all metall but was wondering if i do not will it have bad effect in disc. mode??? because i always thought that treshold and grounbalnce in disc. mode was factory preset

I don't hunt in disc very much but heres how I do it. Set your ground balance and threshold in all metal and then switch to disc. Thats all there is to it. Once you get used to groundbalancing you don't even have to think about it and it takes all of 5 seconds.

Thanks John,
i know how to grounbalance this is not the problem.
Just that some people say groundbalance is only need when you hunt in all metall???

what kind of detector do you use?

I believe that the GB is for both AM and Disc. The Cortez might have

had a preset GB on either the AM or Disc. but I can't remember.
Most of the Tesoro models that have a Ground Balance control effect the All metal and Disc.
The Tesoro models that do not have a GB are all factory Preset.
Monte or Joe Bolton might be able to give a better more technical answer.

Not sure which make & model you have, but ....

"Do i need to set the groundbalance and treshold also in de disc. mode??? of is it only need for hunting in all-metal mode.".... There are some definite differences between brands, and even between models from one maker. Some models have a Discriminate mode that is preset internally and is NOT tied in with the manual ground balance control, and some have circuitry where the Disc. mode IS tied into the manually-adjusted GB.
In the case of the Cortés, for example, the Disc. mode relies on a factory preset GB for the Disc. mode and the manual GB is only functional for the All Metal mode. So, while setting a 'proper' threshold and ground balance isn't necessary for operation in the Disc. mode, it is important in order to have good performance when you switch to All Metal to pinpoint a target.
The Eldorado, however, does have a circuit where the Disc. mode references off the GB setting made in All Metal.
"I know to do this in all metall but was wondering if i do not will it have bad effect in disc. mode??? because i always thought that treshold and grounbalnce in disc. mode was factory preset".... Yes, in the case of the Eldorado or earlier Bandido series best performance in the Discriminate mode is going to be associated with proper set-up and adjustment in the All Metal mode. This is not the case with the Cortés, however.
If you have any specific questions and would like to E-mail me directly, please feel welcomed to do so ... and remember to specify which model you are using as well as search coil(s).
Happy Hunting,

Uh, not really, I don't think

First off, the major portion of your question doesn't apply to Disc mode at all because you can ONLY properly set your Threshold level and ground balance manually in All Metal mode.
Second off, the ONLY time you detector has a factory-preset anything is if your detector is a turn on and go model and your own Tesoro has no way to manually ground balance it.
You didn't mention what model of Tesoro you have, but regardless, here's where the All Metal and Disc modes MAY potentially have bearing on each other. And that scenario only involves Tesoros whose manual ground balance setting in All Metal also carries over to Disc mode. If you're using a metered Tesoro, it doesn't matter at all -- you manual GB setting in All Metal does not carry over to Disc mode, which is the mode most people hunt in. I *think* the GB setting in Disc mode does apply to the Bandido/Eldorado, but even there I don;t remember.
