CS6MX-i Metal Detector from CSCOPE

Code: CS6MX

The CS6MX is a high performance specialist metal detector operating on the MOTION principle. This means that the search-head must be kept moving at a steady sweep speed to achieve optimum performance. The 6MX features multiple discrimination allowing the user to detect the smallest and thinnest coins on the most heavily contaminated or mineralised sites.

On Off/Sensitivity control
Rotary control switches the detector on/off and adjusts the sensitivity. Ground containing mineralisation and some beach situations may cause instability or false signals requiring a reduction of the sensitivity level.

Ground Level control
Start off with this set to AUTO. Extra sensitivity can be achieved on consistent ground by adjusting this control manually in conjunction with the sensitivity control.

Pinpoint
The motion aspect of the CS6MX is switched off whilst the pin-point mode is selected (switch in up position). In pin-point mode the search-head can be held still to determine the precise target position. Pinpoint mode operates in All Metal, ie. whatever level of discrimination you have chosen will be switched off while the pin-point button is depressed. This is a useful facility which allows you to trace around the edges of a signal to identify large pieces of iron. (Note: very large pieces of iron, such as discarded agricultural machinery and iron stakes tend to give positive signals even when the detector is set to high discrimination settings). Once the pinpoint switch is released the detector returns to motion mode.

Iron Volume control
Iron targets are identified by a low pitched tone. The volume level of this low pitched tone can be adjusted as required. To ignore iron this control should be set to zero.

Discrimination Level control
This is used to set the discrimination point. When fully anti-clockwise, the detector will respond to any target from silver paper to gold with a high pitch tone. As the control is rotated clockwise, the lower conduction metals are identified by a mid pitch tone.

Disc Volume control
Used in conjunction with Discrimination Level control, the Volume level of the mid pitch tone can be adjusted as required.

Control box mounting clip
For ultimate lightweight metal detecting the CS6MX control box can be removed and fitted to your trouser belt. This leaves only the search-head on the stem which reduces fatigue on your arm.

I own a c-scope cs3mx which is the basic model in the line up.Although simple with just a sensitivity and a discrim control this detector is one of the best performing detectors i've ever owned...... good depth and excellent in the trash. The thing with these detectors is that they have been developed for british soil conditions so i don't know how they would perform in the states. If the new cs6mx has the same excellent performance as the 3mx,it's new features might make it a must have detector over here.I want one:drool:

actually there's 3 new machines from c-sope plus 11x8 & 11x14 inch coil options ,total revamp of the line and a buddy of mine bought the machine today and is very impressed and he has had all the machines over the years .

CS6MX
CS4MX with dual discrim
and the cheaper basic CS3MX

belt mountable options as the box can be removed

Whats the price in US dollars ? the only problem I have found is no dealer of scope wants ship to US or if they do they want to hit you with close to a hundred dollars shipping fees .Let alone duty fees on top of.

A woodchuck - would chuck - as much wood - as a woodchuck - could chuck - if a woodchuck could chuck wood. But unfortunately, woodchucks do not chuck wood.

I've now got my cs6mx and initial impressions are very good. The build quality is up to c-scopes usual high standards...i'm confident that the detector will stand many years of hard use.My only concern is the quick release mechanism they have employed on the coil lead.It certainly makes changing the coil quicker....especially if you have cold hands but i feel they should have stuck to a good quality screw in plug which are simple and strong.....i feel the quick release plug is slightly gimmicky. However it is well made and should stand the test of time.
I tried some air tests but these were hampered by the fact that the detector is very sensitive to electrical interference inside the house so i ended up turning the sensitivity down quite low.Even at these low settings i was obtaining excellent results on small hammered coins so i am quite confident this machine will have good depth qualities.I will do some proper air tests outside when the weather allows and increase the sensitivity to find out maximum air depths.I will then post them.
Recovery speed tests indoors were very impressive. The usual test was carried out with a rusty nail and a low conductive coin(in my case a hammered penny). To test the recovery speed properly you need to sweep the coil lengthways over the nail and then see if the detector will pick up the coin.....not widthways. The detector passed this test effortlessly.......the cs6mx is blisteringly quick.
I next ran the detector over my testbed in my back yard. Here i have buried low conductivity hammered coins in amongst some really junky ground.I have put many detectors through this test with varying results but the cs6mx had no problems in locating the coins with a good solid signal.I used the detector in 3 tone mode giving iron a low grunty sound, lower conductivity items a mid tone and high conductors a high pitched tone.It was confidence inspiring to pick the mid tones of the coins out of the many iron tones i was getting in my test bed......proof that this machine will do well on our ancient sites that are infested with iron.
I shall be taking the machine onto one of my fields soon to give it a proper test.I know it won't dramatically increase my finds rate but i'm confident it may be able to winkle out some of those small hammies from the difficult areas of the field that some of my other detectors have missed in the past.
Good hunting,Neil.

Any more info on this C scope cs6mxi as I am about to get one as a second machine, has it performed well in the field.
It seems to have gone a bit quiet regarding this machine.

Hi Colin, the machine is getting mixed responses over here in England. To be totally honest it's quite a noisy machine and does not seem to be living up to the initial hype.A lot of people thought it might be able to compete with the xp goldmax power and the new deus but it may have fallen short of this.It has gone quiet over here as well which speaks volumes in itself unfortunately.

Anybody have any thoughts on Cscopes 5MXP model with dual dicrimination?

Gee they certainty haven't managed a decent detector old CScope, ever.

This new version sounds horrible, antiquanted technology, It's like a child's toy. I wouldn't mind betting the disc is near useless past five inches, and the unit would suffer a massive drop in sensitivity in even mildly mineralized ground.

What a piece of rubbish.
