I don't know if Garrett is a sponsor of the show, but you might let Garrett know what you think of the show. They use Garrett products (A/T pro and Pro-pointer)

I'm not a fan of the show because there isn't enough education about the hobby on it. Besides that everyone has their quirks and if the terms they use work for them that's fine. They are obviously having fun and enjoying themselves. I couldn't tell you how many antisocial grumpy old men I've came across metal detecting that have put a far worse taste in my mouth than these two guys.

Garrett definitely wouldn't like any comments I or a couple of detecting buddies who watched it would make. If it's going to be a regular series they should show it on Saturday mornings when the cartoons are on.

PLEASE, E-MAIL SPIKE, NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC CHANNEL AND GARRETT TO LET THEM KNOW WHAT YOU THINK OF THESE COMPLETELY STUPID SHOWS. I told my co-workers about these shows and luckily I also told them that I thought they where not going to be good for our hobby. I know after they seen these guys I am going to get teased about our hobby.

So if I am hearing right we as detectorists world prefer a show that has a couple of old guys with fanny packs and shorts on with black socks up to their knees teaching us how to dig a proper plug and how to put the dirt back into a hold, and not to rub a valuable coin because you might put tiny scratches on it. No humor just a dry basic detecting show comparable to the quilting shows on PBS? Sounds like a winner to me:clapping:

No we want a show that is entertaining and has an element of education in it. Not once did we see any holes being back filled nor was there any segment on recommended equipment or proper disposal of trash finds. The only message I got from your show was this is what we found and this is what we think its worth. I semi enjoyed it only because its nice to see people having fun doing what I enjoy doing. Not everyone that is watching your show is a detectorist. Someone that is a newb to the hobby learned nothing from it other than you were using Garrett products and you got overpaid for an indian head penny.

I'm going to continue to watch your show for the same reasons I watch MDing youtube videos. I like to see what people find and I might learn something about a detector that I use. My girlfriend who hasn't yet been exposed to anything related to MDing watched the show with me and she enjoyed it for different reasons but after it was done I had to pull out my garrett and explain 99% of what was going on so she could understand the basic mechanics of the process.

No matter what you do you aren't going to please everyone and of course detectorists will always be your toughest critics. Just keep being you because that is part of the draw. Sure you might come off goofy sometimes but it's was makes you personable. Heck I'd be happy with just an educational send off at the end of the show. "thanks for waching and remember backfill your holes" "If its a shallow target use a probe instead of a lesche tool" "Never leave a recovered trash target" etc....

@mountaingold - LandOLincoln is dead on.We don't want the two old grumpy men you described doing a show, but all that is metal detecting, even filling in a hole, can be done in an entertaining and informative way. This show was simply irresponsible. It is nothing but profiteering, juvenile antics like kissing a jellyfish, asinine competition, and the jargon? Yuk!

Obviously, responsible metal detectorists were not consulted prior to going into production.

Will I watch it again? Maybe, but if they don't change the style of the show and have their "actors" quit acting like they're in kindergarden,it's an NICS rerun or bedtime for me.

It bothers me that this is the portrayal of MDing being given to the public....This is just entrainment and not meant for the MDing hobbyist...in no way do I and others want to be represented by actions and over the top values that are produced by this show.Their are I'm guessing hundreds of hours in the making of 40 minutes of actual show that the producers and editors are going to sensationalize as much as possible to attract the ratings, advertisers, and viewers... not MDers..

I tivo'd both episodes and watched the second one first.I thought it was so silly, uninformative and boring that I deleted the other episode without watching it.If I as a hardcore detectorist don't care for the shows,I can imagine how the general veiwers feel about the series.DBULL

The producers did consult qualified detectorists Team ATC has over 10 years a piece of experiance. What the naysayers dont realize is that everyone wants to see something to their likng on the show it takes 8 straight days of filming to make a 22 minute episode. So how do you cram everything into 22 minutes.

Hi JB, I have a hunch Garrett may also not be happy with some comments I read this morn from a UK "Archie" on the subject and about Nat Geo..He is not likely to be the only Archie with unfavorable comments about Nat Geo's promotion of violating certain laws etc, "and.for monetary gain." That will certainly be a stink for Garrett to think on..Makes one wonder if it might one day boil down to our treasure laws becomming somewhat in line with UK. Lol, that would be a blessing in some ways when you compare their laws to what we have for laws and the ones making our laws..UK laws do in many ways favor the detectorist, which is something our treasure laws and their " many varried interpretations" certainly do not do. Time will tell but most of us , even the noobies won't live long enough to see that happen, if ever.. HH, Charlie.
