O.M.G. look what I found!

Found this barber 1/2 dollar today in the park we've hunted a million times. I was using my f5 while hunting with my brother WV62 and got one of those faint far away tones and called him over to check it out before I dug it, it showed high 70 to low 90 on the VID and a depth of 7". We dug down to about the six inch level and he put his pinpointer down in the hole and off to one side right under this small root he got a signal and we both looked at each other and said that's a good sign. He then took out a portion under the root and that's when I had my heart attact.

NOW YOU DON'T FIND THOSE VERY OFTEN IN A LIFE TIME!
Nice find!

Is this a,
Sled Run Find?
Flat Lands Find?
Or A Den Find?

All that rain yesterday and last night and a little lower temperature today might have helped your detector reach that forever lost coin!

Any silver coin is hard to find since they quit making them in 1964 and everyone with a detector has been looking for silver coins since they quit making them plus silver half Dollars weren't lost that much since they were so big. This Barbara half goes back 4 generations in silver mintage so that also makes it a good find.

The area of the park he found that Half in is an area that's been scoured with detectors for decades!!!! especially from the mid seventies through the nineties. Back in the 80's they were several detecting clubs in our area and on any decent day you could drive by this park and at a distance the hunters looked like bee's in a clover field and by the mid eighties there was some very high end detectors out there as well.
In more recent times sense the MineLabs E-Trac came out the park started getting hit with them pretty hard. So, even unearthing a silver dime there is pretty rare, but a silver half that's remained hidden like that is pretty unreal!!!!!!

Now, by judging by its wear I'm going to say that its was probably in circulation for somewhere around the 20-25 range (that's just a guess) its for sure not a 1902 fresh drop, but its in pretty darn good condition.
So its wear,
Its date,
Its depth,
Its possible time in circulation,
I'd say that it was lost in the around the early days of the parks developing years of the 1920's

Congratulations, what a sweet find :clapping:

Bells and whistles are nice, but nothing will substitute for the basic understanding of the hobby.
