I am an Old Geezer. My wife loves the fact that I have an interest that keeps me moving. She has no interest in Detecting. Her hobby is making Blue Ribbon Winning Quilts.

Over the last 25 years just accepted with no interest...Guess its payback since she got sick as only been out several times since I found her on the floor like the commercial and doubt if I will get out again unless she has company..A stroke, major cancer surgery with partial lung and a heart attack over the last several years gave me a new outlook on life but she is now in remission..At 79 one of these days my equipment is classified bound...

My wife has never really been interested in metal detecting, but several years ago she came out where my partner and I were hunting. I set up a Garrett 250 for her and dang it she found three gold rings in about two hours. She has not touched a metal detector since....Jack

I popped a plug and she saw a worm.... She was moving backward so fast her feet went out from under her.
....

And yet somehow ....... the women's lib. movement would have us believe that there is no difference between men and women, except the plumbing ?

Tom, I think it's called the feminist movement now.... I agree with you for the most part except for me and my daughter. We both deer hunt and my daughter, gosh is she ever a pretty lady at age 41. But anyway, she shot a 6 pt buck, her first and she wanted to do everything. She field dressed it, then when we got it home she skinned and quartered it herself with her husband and dad directing her. She is in the Air National Guard, will retire in a few years. Her daughter, my granddaughter, who was then 11 was metal detecting with me and used her hands to clean out all the holes. She wasn't afraid of the dirt or the worms, but she did want to save the worms.

Sometimes I see women who don't work outside the home, but they won't even mow the lawn because they think that's man's work. I say in a situation like that, whoever has the most free time should do it.

There are certainly exceptions. But ... just sayin' .... as a general rule, there IS more differences than "just the plumbing".

I have a street sweeper company and ... if I run a help-wanted ad for drivers and/or mechanic, for some reason 97% of applicants that reply to the ad will be male. The occasions where I've had a female reply, I can not discriminate (for fear of legal issues). So all I have to do is walk them out front, show them a sweeper, and say let's climb on it, climb inside, etc... (things a driver might have to do in the course of un-clogging it, maintaining it, etc...). At that junction, they all say "no thank you" and leave. Presto, I didn't have to "discriminate" :)

My wife and I have an agreement, I don't ask her to go metal hunting and she doesn't ask me to go shopping. It works good for us because if either one of us tried doing what the other liked it would be a catastrophe and nobody would be happy.

Good deal. I have a rental business and likewise get past the discrimination issue when I explain there will be a background check for felonies, drug use, domestic violence, etc. Many people leave saying they are going to get the deposit money, but they never return.

One time I had a gal that did indeed climb to the top of the sweeper (a towering truck sized equipment/vehicle). Thus she did indeed demonstrate the physical agility needed for the job. And I pointed to a back-pack blower (weighs 20-ish lbs) and asked her to "curl it" as I was doing (ability to lift, put it on one's back, etc...). She effortlessly performed that test.

I was starting to sweat bricks thinking "there's no way in heck my wife is going to allow me to hire a cute female worker like this!" (a ... uh ... distraction). Yet also sweating bricks that I could reject the applicant on the basis of gender. So I proceeded to tell the young lady that : The work would involve working at nights in industrial gritty areas of town, without supervision. At THAT point, she started to waver, but took the application to fill out anyhow. She never returned with the application. Phheewww, I didn't "discriminate".

.......she must listen to Hank Jr., he does too when he hunts with his Shadow X-5, according to Troy Galloway.
Hank is a fishing fool. (including catfish)
Troy told me about the first time he took his teen daughter deer hunting-put her in a tree and went to his stand several hundred yards off. Over the next
hour he heard four gunshots. He went back to check on her and found she had killed four deer (she had 2 tags.) "But dad you never said there was a limit."
So she got the max allotted---for both of them. :beers:

Good shooting! Now this was Hank Jr's daughter or Troy's daughter??? Interesting that Hank Jr metal detects, I never knew that!

I don't know if Hank's kids metal detect--bet they shoot guns though.
Troy was there on a visit once and Hank decided to shoot some guns, err....Civil War Cannon (maybe the biggest collection in private hands.) Troy said they had
"a real blast." Throw in some Tennessee 'sippin whisky....of course the neighbors called the Sheriff, but.....:hot: they left grinning.
(Don't know if Hank just uses powder, or puts in some balls?) I wonder if Kid Rock was there?
