Too Hot and Dry to Detect

I live in northeast Ohio and September's weather has been the hottest and driest month that I can remember. The last three days have been high 80's to low 90's. My rain gauge has seen less than 1/2 inch of rain since Labor Day. I will not dig when the ground is like concrete. I tried two weeks ago and our clay soil was as hard as concrete. I usually find Sept. and Oct. to be the most pleasant months to detect. Cool mornings and moist ground. I have noticed the number of "Finds" posts are not too numerous. Hopefully the rest of the country is in better shape and our Texas friends are getting their lives back in order.

Wish you had some of the rain that we have been getting down my way. Irma poured the rain and then tried to blow the ocean up on the dry land and succeeded in some of the lower areas. Especially the City of Charleston. Feet of water in some of the streets.
