Two hour hunt yeilds 3 silvers and 5 IH incl old spill

I went back to the old park I hit last Sunday (merc and 3 IH + old wheaties). The intersection at one corner of the park just had sidewalks replaced.
The new walks were all in but there was a fairly large area at one corner between the walk and the curb where the sod had been skimmed off leaving fresh bare earth. SCORE !! I took my time checking it out: Barber quarter 1902s, merc 1944, two IH 1893 & 1902, three wheats incl a 1915d. The small plate pictured says
E T BURROWES CO, PAT SEP 6 98, PORTLAND ME.
Then I went into the park and found a small early 1900's spill: Barber dime 1906o & two IH 1896 & 1905. Also found another IH 1903, and four wheats incl a 1910.
The last item is an old cuff link. The barber dime and the merc are both close to the nicest ones I've dug - both very detailed with original luster !
The photo shows the 3 coins from the spill in the top row.
This park is one of the first parks I ever detected back in the 70's (yea, I'm no kid - only in my mind). There still has to be a ton of stuff there. For the time I'v put in during the last two hunts I've averaged almost two silvers or IHs per hour - and thats not counting early "teens" wheats and artifacts.
I think this will be my "go to" spot for a while between new spots.

Nice finds and that Merc and Barber dime look to be in nice shape. I really love the relics though and here''s what I found on the Internet about the Burrowes Co.:
E.T. Burrowes Company ( Edward T. Burrowes Co.) Portland, Maine (1878-1928)

Company Made: Levels, Rules, Pool Tables and Wooden Planes

E.T. Burrowes Company was primarily a maker of a sliding wire screen patented in 1878; the tools he marked were special types used to install that screen" including a sliding and folding rule patented 24 Mar. 1891. Burrowes made one plane in particular in large quantities, as it has frequently appeared in tool chests and collections purchased by the Liberty Tool Co. over the past thirty years, and that is the screen making plane. Burrowes' mark is printed on the side of this screen making plane in large block letters (E.T. BURROWES CO., MANUFACTURERS, PORTLAND MAINE, and other variations).

The company also made furniture items such as pool tables, cedar chests and old crank phonograph cabinets.

My guess is that the tag you found probably came off a plane, rule or level. Seems to be too small to be noticed on a pool table or phonograph cabinet. I love this stuff and hope you find more goodies. HH

Congrats on your finds, Bruce!!

Do you think those coins you found where the sod had been scraped were completely out of range of detection before the scrape?

Sounds like a really nice park to detect!! Lots of oldies......reminds me of one of my "silver parks".....I've dug 280 something silvers in a 16 month period from this park....it's been really pillaged the past couple of years by me(and at least 6 others I know of), but I don't think it's dry yet!

Been swingin' the coil since 1972

Started out in 1972 with a Jetco Detector...then the late 70's with a Whites 6000:whites:....then in 1981 went to a Bounty Hunter VLF TR 840:bounty:

Then in the early 1980's I went to a Whites 6000 Di Pro:whites:...mid 80's I went to a Whites Eagle II SL:whites:...Late 80's/Early 90's I went to the Whites XLT:whites:

1990's I used the Fisher CZ5, CZ6, CZ7, 7aPro, and CZ70Pro (still have)...and am currently doing some water hunting with my CZ-21:fisher:...

Started using Minelabs in 1999:minelab:

with a brief stint on the Musketeer while also using the CZ's...then in 2002 I switched to the Minelab Explorers and currently use the Explorer SE Pro as my main machine. I also use the Explorer 2 and E-trac often... and have a CTX3030 I use as a backup:minelab: Might also mention I have an arsenal of coils for the Explorers:thumbup:

TokenDigger - thanks for the info on the plate. I didn't know when I would get around to looking into it.
