Oldest Seated to date...

I don't post much but when you dig an 1838 Seated dime in Oklahoma, it is time to brag a little. LOL She is wearing a little thin but she is also 174 years old. You have to wonder who lost her and WHEN. She was only about 4 inches deep but fully on edge. I spent a couple of minutes just going in circles listening to her asking me to dig her up. I was using my 10 x 12 SEF on the Explorer on some well grazed grass. It don't get much better than this. :beers:

Great old silver, A real trophy. I'm all ways wondering about the history of old coins when I dig them, Who -When - Where - and How they got there, it's part of the game, and I love going to that place.
Great coin Joe

I am totally in agreement with you, chip. My thoughts when I saw Joe's coin were -- MAN, it's at least within the realm of "possible" that the person who dropped that coin was born prior to the Boston Tea Party, the Revolution, the First Continental Congress... It is even MORE possible that the person was alive during Washington's presidency; this coin was minted 41 years after Washington's last days in office, so -- with it possible that this coin was dropped within 15 or so years of mintage, and possibly by a person of "middle age," this is actually semi-feasible!

Wow...

Congratulations on finding that 1838 Seated Liberty dime!! :surprised:
She might be old and thin, but she's a keeper for sure. I also
circled my (1873) Seated dime for quite a while when I found
her..... knowing it was deep silver and wanting to be VERY
sure it was pin pointed acurately. Well done Joe!:clapping:
