NEVER EXPECTED TO FIND ONE OF THESE AT THE PARK :yikes:

This is a perfect example that no place in ever hunted out, and you cant always find it all!! I have been hunting this park for the last 3 years.. I have pounded and pounded this place... My friends have pounded and pounded this place.. People I don't even know have pounded this place.. The last 4 trips I made to this park I left with nothing but a pouch full of nails.. I find myself chasing alot of iffy signals here.. I decided to head to this park after work today "and I'm glad I did" to see if i could scrounge up some keepers.. I have pulled a wide variety of coins from this place... But nothing earlier than the 1880's.. I started off really slow, chasing iffy hits. Finally i hit a solid deep signal that registered lower than a Indian. I dug down and pulled out a President Hoover elephant pin.. I really like this little pin.. its one of my favorites.. I found one for sale online.. here is the link http://www.ioffer.com/i/hoover-balancing-elephant-on-gop-ball-pin-151054915 .. I hunted around that area for a while and wasn't producing anything else.. I walked about 100 yards to an area that has produced before. After about 30 minutes and 5 nails later I hit a DEEEEEEEP hit.. It sounded really odd to me.. I circled.. circled some more,, and kept on circling... I was definitely getting a hit from multiple directions. I opened up the hole and dug down.. I put the probe in and she rang a sweet sound... I dug down some more and all of a sudden i noticed a big old dirty round thing pop out. My heart skipped a beat.. Thinking there is no way its what I think it is..... When I picked it up In the sun I could clearly see it was a large cent.. I never dreamed up pulling one from this hunted to death park,, or any park for that matter.. I am totally stoked... :clapping: Then after that.. Making my hunt even better.. I was able to snag a few wheats and 1919 merc not far from where I found the large cent. I keep telling myself I'm gonna put some hours in on my E-trac... But I just love running my explorer.. Maybe ill start next week :bouncy:
Thanks again everyone for checking out my post... I could go on and on but I wont :)
Happy Hunting Everyone!!
Derrell

Sweet... sweet ... sweet. Man i miss the old coins. I used to hunt a park near me that produced some silver...... mostly the 40s, but on occassion a large cent or 2 cent piece pop up.

Great job Derrell, Large Cents in parks are always a bonus you don't expect too many of those.
