Beautiful day....a good friend...a faithful companion...and seated silver:thumbup:

Finally squeezed in a hunt yesterday with my old buddy Phil who is more appropriately known as "The Yeti"

He has been like a brother to me for many years now and we rarely even get to see each other anymore...let alone hunt together because of my personal training and his work.

We had 3 hours today so we headed to one of our favorite sites where oldies are located.

I don't find much here anymore but if I do it's usually ancient.

It was really cool for us to compare signals...joke around...and just to spend time together.

Herky enjoyed the company too and whenever one of us got ready to dig...he would sit next to us and see what we uncovered.

Phil had his E-Trac workin' well...and ended up with a nice handful of goodies including some clad...a key...a wheatie...and injun...and a roosey.

I wandered around for over 2 hours and after getting punked by my 2nd 8" deep zinc cent:ranting:...I decided to head to my favorite spot at this site...the "sandpit".

9 out of 10 times here at this spot the silver comes out dark as coal.

I finally got this ancient gray/black disc... and did not even know it was a seated until after I gave it a couple light finger wipes and put my glasses on.

When it first came out of the sand from 10+" deep I just knew it was silver.

I then turned it over and rubbed it right in the center of the back and thought I had a barber.

I flipped it back over to the front and rubbed it a little harder and then saw the staff appear as well as the 1853 date. What a nice surprise.:yikes:

When I got home it had obviously dried up so I took a couple more pics which show the date a little better.

Just a nice, relaxing and fun hunt with a very good friend and my faithful companion Herky.

Any coins dug were merely icing on the cake.

This forum will be hopping now that warm weather is making it's way to all of us....ENJOY.

Here's the link to my field test post containing over 60 different hunts of various coil tests...comparisons...nicer finds...etc..:

Nice hunt Bryce. I get a feeling that the seated wasn't really the most important part of the hunt.

Not seeing any arrows on either side of the date. That would be the lower mintage 1853 ... good score !

Sometimes just getting out to hunt with a good friend is more
rewarding than digging a lot of clad coins. Well done Bryce
and congrats on the seated dime. Gold Nuggets :wiggle:
