Today's chiseling out of Silver and Gold.

Yea, I put the crazy ball in the heading because trying to hunt or cut a small plug in this ground is murder and crazy.

Well, I picked up my hunting buddy at a tad after 8am and we set out upon a route we wanted to hit.
The first place we had hunted once prior and the owner is a super nice guy and could care less when or how often we hunt.
Well, I got a an old toy car and about 3 wheat's, $2+ in quarters (clad) and an old key. I gave it all to the owners kid.
My buddy got the best find there a Kennedy 1/2 and a about $2 in clad also. This place holds oldies in the ground but, hand picking today there was slim.

We headed a bit farther out and stopped by a new place and there was no problem with us hunting but, the owner stated it had been in her family for many moons and they might not like us finding the things they lost. She even laughed and said "I could care less".
Well, I will say she was nice and honest so, I offered a split of the finds and that got us the go ahead as she is the owner now.
We give allot away anyways but, rarely are we asked too. It is just something we do as a gesture of gratitude.

Right off the bat I got a deeper high right 1/2 off the screen screamer.
I dug it and out popped a 42 Washington and I handed it to her but, she said no you keep it.
At almost the same moment my buddy says "hey look here" and held up this little shiny thing.
Myself and the owner walked over and it was a beautiful ornate Gold locket in mint shape.

My buddy being the generous person he is offered it to her to keep. She was very happy as she suspected it had maybe been her grandmothers. I mentioned looking through old family photos to see if she could see it being worn by someone.

She mentioned her son loved this kind of stuff so, next thing we know we are giving just about everything to this Lil boy. From washers to coins he loved it all.
We showed him the detectors and then talked about the hobby to him and we really think we got a youngster hooked on the hobby. Heck, we where marking clad for him to dig with his little shovel. If you think we where struggling to dig you should have seen this Lil boy. I actually think he loved the challenge.

A Lil bit later I found a small Silver Ring with what appeared to be a Garnet in it and gave it to the owner to have with the Locket. (It is pictured laying on the top left corner of the locket)

Then I got a nice Indian hit and it turned out to be a 1896.
Well, anyways it was a fun day but, boy the plug cutting is terribly bad.
The owner did not care about that but, we where just to tired to go on.
She said we could come back and we will BUT, not until it rains.

We called it a day with me getting a picture of the things we left for them which included 4 wheat's, a spoon, and a toy gun trigger for the youngster and clad (not all the clad we gave the lil guy is pictured as I think it he put most in his pocket),
As for the mom we left here the Silver Ring I found and the ornate Gold Locket my buddy found.

I walked away today with 1 wheat (somehow I left in my pocket) and the 1896 Indian and the 42 Washington. My best find was the Silver Ring which I gave away.
My buddy gave away his best find the Locket but, got a 1/2 Dollar and some wheat's ( I forgot to capture a pic of his keeps).
Here is the things we gave to the owner. Then a close up glared pic in the sun of the Locket and the Ring.

Here are my keepers for the day I got to bring home.

Thanks for the kind words Matthias, yes it is probably just as much fun giving things back a much as finding them.

JJ, your probably right about that rest idea. It is so dry after pushing that Lesche into the ground it has allotted me my share or sores/blisters. Thanks for the kind words.

Mike
