Annual end of year clad for silver exchange !
Posted by: Ed (Upstate NY)

Every January I head to the coin star machine to exchange my Explorer dug clad coins, nickels and pennies found during the previous year. I had a poor year digging clad with only $64.00 l but I was able to boost my totals by including the proceeds by selling two dug Albany, NY dog tax tokens (1898 & 1905) on eBay for $91.00. My total of $155.00 bought me a 5 ounce silver bar and three one ounce American Silver eagles. Sure looks nicer than a pile of crusty coins and two beat dog tags !

Nice Ed. That sure is easier on the eyes then clad. :)
Hows Tony doing? I sent him a PM but, I never heard from him.

When you are out digging for silver you don't get much clad. Very good idea and terrific pick ups!

Great idea. Just wondering why you chose to go with silver an not gold.

Back when gold was about $400.00 an ounce, I put together a nice set of gold coins. Now it takes too long to save up for gold. Silver looks just as nice to me !

For that reason, I purposely hit a couple of spots at years end I know are full of clad. I don't find that much clad when I'm out looking for the old silver coins either.

What an excellent idea Ed, i have always just spent my clad. I'm going to start saving it to buy silver as well.

Thanks
