Minelab's new detector is out - Equinox

I couldn't wait to see it so first thing this morning I went looking and found they released the Equinox detector.
It looks like a Deus and has pre-set programs too. There are two versions so far and decent prices too. I think I saw 699 and 899 USD.
Now we just need to hear some reviews.

I watched a utube video from the hunt in England and that person said one difference is the lower priced one doesn't have a prospecting app on it, the more expensive one does.
Don't hold me to these things - I am sure we will learn more going forward.
But I am excited because it is light weight too.

Charles, that's a good one1
I know you by now - your probably gearing up to do a comparison to the Deus!

I want one too but you never know If this is the first in the series like they did with Explorers.

It has a Compadre stand/cuff and a Deus screen! Whaaaat? To me the allure of a Minelab is that they have their own thing going on. I don't care how heavy it is. WILL IT FIND DEEP SILVER?? That's all I care about. If the answer is "not any better than a CTX or Explorer" then I'm out.

Correct!

IDXmonster, I understand I have questions as well. Is this the start of a new line? Like the Explorers? If so there will be a new one every two or three years.

What is the new pro-find 35? Will it connect to the Equinox?

Right now it looks cool and the price makes it interesting but if they don't get the bugs out of it before shipping then it could be trouble.

Terrific, I can't wait for your input. Maybe you'll do a video comparison and make us all real happy to see you in action.

It looks cool. If it works well watch for the CTX and used explorers to come way down in price.

Ted, the new model is a VLF not FBS like my Exp II and the etrac and CTX.
But as you say we have to wait and see because we all hope it will hit deep and separate coins from iron.
I can't wait to hear the specifics and reviews.

What do you expect from a machine that costs less than half of the price of the CTX ?
I will definitely get this machine , its lightweight design , 11 in coil , waterproof design , Terra / ET tones , Straight 3 piece stem that should be low cost to replace amongst other things .
I have owned a few Terra's over the last 7 years and they are amazing machines , this is almost certainly the replacement for that series and with multi frequency option is pretty damned good .
This machine will put Minelab back on the relic hunting map big time .
Its not a replacement for the CTX or even the Explorer / E.Trac unless someone wants one to replace their current machine.

One thing is for sure from all i have seen and heard i think this machine if it has the Terra capability at the least with Multi freq and the fast recovery speed it will put Minelab back in the forefront of relic hunting .
Its about time that Minelab woke up and i think they have , they must have been on double Mocca's for quite some time to come out with this machine .

Cant wait till i get mine in December.

P.S. This machine will pick up Gold and Silver and all other metals that you want if set up right.. But then you will know that having the CTX.

Uses = Minelab E.Trac , Minelab Explorer 11 (might sell) , Minelab Explorer XS , Minelab Equinox 800 x 2 (ordered) , Garrett Probes , Gray Ghost/ Nugget Busters

As a water hunter i dont see this machine as a dirt hunters dream and i think the cost suggests that. The lowest freq is 5Khz.....not the deepest. Id put it in the class of a DFX by Whites for depth. BUT.....in the water, especially salt water there is promise. Most of us modify our Xcal putting the cost around $1700.... and we all know the price of a CTX. Both of these machines find about the same thing IN THE WATER..... each having their strength. Out of the water the CTX clearly has advantages...... and most sane people dont use an Xcal dirt hunting. This machine could be a great wader with faster processing, multi freq, water proof, ligher, and a game changer with the single freqs offered for dry sand hunting smaller gold that the mentioned machine just dont see. This should get more of the CTXs out of the water and move the Xcals to divers.... or they will go like the Sov did. Both these machines have a lot of repair costs....... to not only us but ML for warrant work. Should lower repair turn around times also. I see this machine loosing a little depth out there neck deep over the other two, but it may gain some sensitivity to small gold with the 5 and 15 Khz combo. I live in Fl so for most of the year we are chasing recent drops......so depth isnt a huge factor.... there are trade offs. I think this will be a great option if you want a Whites with a ML label.

Dew, you just might be right.
I want to see more videos and or reviews from real users.
At first I was excited and wanted to get one but there might be some bugs to work out after production.
As far as depth and stuff in dirt - as you said I had wondered myself. They were able to hit recently burried targets in the test bed but I am still not ready.
My Exp II is still a go getter and would be hard to give up.

When i get my machines i will sell my Excalibur 11 which no longer is on my signature and provided i like what i see i will sell my Explorer 11 .
Then i will run my E.Trac and the Equinox together for a few years till my E.Trac and Sovereign are replaced by a new ET .

Thats the plan , but as they say "Best laid plans..."
