My most meaningful coin find ever. It's "priceless" to me:angel:

It has taken me over 3 months to find the strength to post this...but with the new year being here....I am now ready.

This is my BEST and most memorable find of 2008...and of my lifetime.

I will never forget it as long as I live. It was the afternoon of the day when my mother had passed away earlier that morning. I felt like I was going to go absolutely insane with depression.

My dad...myself..and my brother were supposed to meet the minister at my grandparents house. This was the house where my mom was raised and grew up at...and for some reason...my dad wanted us all to meet there instead of our house.

We were supposed to meet with the minister so each of us could give him a little story to read at my mom's funeral.

Anyway it was 4:00 and he wasn't supposed to be there until 5:00. I was depressed beyond imagination..and no way I was going to sit for an hour and get worse.

I got my SE out of the trunk...and began to creep accross the grass by the foundation where the old porch once stood.
It wasn't long before I got a high pitched whisper...had a plug dug...and popped out a 1941 Merc.

As I gently rubbed off some of the dirt...I glanced over my right shoulder...looked up at the sky...and there was a bright ray of light peeking right down at me...through an otherwise cloudy and dismal day.

At that moment...I had a peace and calm come over me...and I realized my mom would always be with me...and would always have my back...just as she always had.

You see....I had hunted my grandparent's house a hundred times or more over the last 30 years...and never found silver.......until now.

My mom probably dropped this dime as a kid...and today was the day meant for me to find it.

Bryce, my Mother passed away a little over a year ago so I know the grief that you felt and still do. I, like you, came to the same realization. She had left us in body, but not in spirit. People that are special to us are always going to be with us. I feel my Mother's presence every day and knowing that she is no longer in pain and is at peace keeps me going. I'm glad you've gotten to a better place yourself. I know that I'm a stronger person now. Godspeed friend.

I'm sure it did require some strength to post this and I am sure you will never forget this coin as well. I appreciate the story and the effort you needed to show us this. It really shows your love for your mother. I hope all is well with you & your family in the coming future.

Bryce, when I read this post it took me back to the middle of 2007 when I lost my mom too. Its been the hardest for me to keep moving forward and I promise there's not a day that goes by that I don't want to reach for the phone to call her for advice or to tell her what I had found most recently. I know down deep that dime was dropped by her and she wanted you to have it right then, right there, just because she knew how much you'd appreciate it and in the fashion that you got it. Thanks for taking the time to share that difficult story....Listen in your headphones and you'll hear her whisper which direction to go....she's there, just listen...

It's nice to hear such a heart felt story. It's as though she is sending you a message to live your life and Be
Happy. Thanks for sharing.

There is more to this world than what we see everyday, Your mom found a way to tell you everything was going to be OK in a way she knew you would understand.:angel:N/T

Bryce your a stronger man than me. Jan 21st, 3yrs ago we lost our mom from a massive heart attack. I remembered we all huddled together(my brothers and sisters)for the next week, but the burial and all is still a blur, like time stood still.

Nice to hear you were able to turn such a tragedy into such a meaningful moment that will last you for the rest of your years.

Bryce,I would agree with you about that dime of being your greatest finds. Most important thing is family and to find a coin or piece of jewelry that they lost in their past is top of my list of finds.

Hey Bryce,

Your post really touched home brother. Thats awesome and it just lets you know that though your loved ones may be absent in body they will always be present with us in spirit. Keep your chin up Bryce and teach us new Explorer users how to find that old silver.

Very nice story Bryce and thanks for sharing it with us. Brought tears to my eyes as I lost my mother in 2007 and I think of her every day. The memories will always be with us and when we get down just look up and say hi mom. Be strong buddy and may 2009 be your best year ever swinging that coil. HH.

Oh Bryce , Very heartwarming story . I agree that you were meant to find it exactly
at that moment on that day , a priceless gift from your mom. A sign that she will
always be with you and watching over you . May that warm feeling of peace and calm
reside with you every time you think of that day and your most cherished find :please:
