There seems to be more people on here lately that now own a 12x10 or 15x12 SEF coil. I figured I'd try to get you guys to post a little review of your coil for others to see. Do you think it's deeper than the stock 10" coil or the WOT, etc.

For me the 12x10 appears to be deeper then the 10" Tornado. It's more stable, gives crisper tones, and seperates better. The weight without a coil cover is lighter than the S-12.

I owned a 15x12 for a while and would have kept it had I been primarily a beach hunter because the coverage is awesome. Not that the 12x10 isn't a nice improvement in coverage over the stock 10" Tornado. The 15x12 was also deeper than stock in the sand but for some reason it seemed to max out at about 8 or 9" deep at my high mineral land sites and wasn't as deep as the stock coil. This confuses me because my beaches are also high mineral so I don't see why it got deeper than stock in the sand but not on land. I feel the 12x10 is seeing less ground and thus is able to get deeper on land for me than the 15x12. There comes a point in coil size where it is taking in too much ground matrix and I feel migh mask or wash out a target signal at depth. That's why I feel the 12x10 is deeper for me than the 15x12. I found the 15x12 was too much drag in the water for me but I haven't tried the 12x10 in the water yet. Another thing I found about the 15x12 was that it seemed to give best depth with the sensitivity set at about 1:30 to 2PM, or pointing at the "C" in the word Noise Cancel on the face plate. Even though it was stable at higher sensitivity settings it didn't seem to offer as stable of an ID at depth. Where as the 12x10 seems to want to ride the edge of stability with sensitivity like you do with most detectors.

Post your review of these coils for others to read.
