Ive been hitting the field that had 6 "houses" and 1 blacksmith that I know of according to the 1875 map. A couple houses could have been a home/business.
The search has been daunting. A corn stubble as much as 12 inches make the rows and chafe fills the gap between. There is a lot of iron of course.
The axe heads and splitting wedge sounded pretty good so I dug them in the know but curious as to what the object is. Of the 5 times I've been out there, I found 4 coins.
But the coins were worth it. I believe there is a lot more hidden there and from a recent update I am likely the first to detect the area. There isn't much though, these people were certainly not wealthy.
That said...in my minds eye, I keep seeing a broken cache of coins spread out in the field that is waiting for me to find. I need that to keep me going sometimes..grin
I have found some interesting relics but nothing notable. I'm not sure what this means but the coins were found within 3 inches of the surface...none deeper! Whats up with that?
Anyhow here is some of the stuff. Aside from the iron, the area is fairly clean of anything that will break the lowest disc setting.
