Yes...... i got the rubber from ACE hardware in the auto section for gaskets. Used a bridal punch for the holes and a leather punch. IMO those thinner gaskets are one reason we crack those caps. The thicker ones allow more threads..... and by the way once you tighten the cap down that gap you are showing goes away. The prongs on your new cap are tight now. Later on you may find they loosen up...... and with years of use to tighten them again you may have to spread them gently with a butter knife.
